In wich terms does it corresponds to it's opposants? From my sources, the Type VIIC is smaller, lighter and had less range. The only german class that had comparable specifications was Type IXC and Type IXD. What is the motivation for operating medium range Type VII U-boat (Atlantic boats) in the pacific? As far as i know, all uboats that operated in Indian Ocean were type IXC or type IXD (Long Range boats). The Type VII were operating as far as the Gulf of Mexico but not further.
