  1. I think it's a nice gesture from petroglyph to leave it in so that the modders can easily re-add it.
  2. -Repeatability (100% 3/3 attemts) -Platform: AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Nvidia Geforce 6600GT 126mb (AGP version) 1024mb DDR-ram onboard sound Windows XP prof. SP1 -Error Type: Freezing -Location: tutorial mission 1 -Language: demo in english, windows in dutch -Description: So I come home, go upstairs, turn on the comp, start the tutorial, and bam! after about 5 minutes it freezes. Ok so that was a disappointment but nevertheless, I rebooted and tried again, bam! same thing happened at about the same time. (note: not triggered by something ingame, I was slightly farther on into the mission this time thanks to knowing what to do) Ok so I figured I'd update my drivers, just did that, turned down the graphics somewhat just because I was cautious and still, when I started the tutorial, bam! and my system froze. -Steps to reproduce: 1. start game 2. start tutorial mission 1 3. watch comp freeze after about 5 minutes [EDIT] Fixed by a reinstall.
  3. Damn, download was going nicely from EAWHQ, 60% complete, only 30 minutes to go. Suddenly it shows the download as complete eventhough only about 430mb downloaded and I have no way to restart or beter said, resume it. Ah well, beter push the resume button on my gamespot download, it was moving slowly so I paused it when the EAWHQ download started to give it some more bandwith, now that one died I'm gonna resume at 19% from gamespot. Good thing I didn't close it or I would have to start over
  4. downloading from EAWHQ now. 170 kb/s atm and already 42% done! Maybe I'll even get to play it tonight!
  5. 't was te be expected, gamespot fucked up this bad with the battlefield 2 demo aswell. You'de say they would have fixed that crappy service of their's in the last half a year though..
  6. Personally I'd say they seem more at home in a swamp then a rainforest but that's just me.
  7. I'd guess that that is dagobah or a somewhat similar. It looks more like a marsh then a jungle.
  8. Send an ISD to search for the mercenaries (the one with the least damaged engines if some were to have damaged engines) and the other 2 into the biggest nebula in reach. I would then try to hire mercenary help in which case I'd try to regroup my forces in a nebula and ambush the rebels. If that wouldn't work (can't find the mercenaries in time or something like that) I'd split up my two ISD's in the nebula to try and reduce damage. (that way they will have to search harder if they would want to destroy them both) I'd try to send the third ISD (that tried to scout out the mercenaries) into the nearest nebula in a bid to escape/hide from the rebel forces. (note: another nebula then the other two ISD's are in, it would be stupid to bring the wolf right to the sheep) In the nebula I would send out my fighters to keep myself updated on the position of the rebel forces and maneouver my ISD's away from them and there 'interdictor' to go into hyperspace. Then: A.If I were to witness the rebels doing something stupid. (like splitting up there mon cals) I would try to regroup my ISD's and strike a lone mon cal. (or a group of two depending on the action of the rebel player) Once that one (or two) goes down I would re-evaluate the situation. If my ISD's are no so far damaged I'd risk losing one or perhaps more I would pull out of the battle, if I sustained little extra damage I would then try to face the remeaning two mon cal's head on. B. If I couldn't run off to a side of the map to enter hyperspace I would evaluate a quick strike on the enemy fleet to destroy the 'interdictor' and disable the mon cal's engines while my fighters keep the rebel fighters tied up for as long as possible. Once the mon cal's are crippled and the 'interdictor' destroyed I'd take anything that remains after this suicide mission and get the hell outof there =P
  9. 50 euro's are enough for one game if you ask me so I'll be buying the normal version. (that is, if the demo is any good, ya never know)
  10. 2B, 4, 5, 6, 8
  11. Free unit factory? It's not like those stormtroopers are anything more then cannonfodder..
  12. Saying that this game will be awesome isn't frowned upon as far as I know so if you ask me a non-constructive post every now and then isn't a bad thing. Sometimes you say things just because you want to say it, not because it's helpfull just because you feel like it. If you ask me that's part of human behavior.
  13. I don't mind it if petroglyph adds things to the universe but if you ask me the broadside's design just doesn't fit in with the empire's other units. That's the only thing I don't like about it though.
  14. I agree, these forums are to discuss and talk about the game. If LA does something bad to it (in our eyes) we talk about that in the same way we talk about the positive things. Our oppinions just aren't always positive. If yourse is then I suggest building a shrine to worship but not discuss.
  15. Personally I wouldn't boycot the expansion over one ship. Mostly because it would hurt petroglyph more then LA. Furthermore, I think Whiteskull is right, everything was made up once so why wouldn't you add some more to it now? Just aslong as those ships fit in the existing universe I have no trouble with it at all. That said the venator model is very cool and if we get a mod that switches the venator model with the acclamator model while still allowing me to play MP vs people with unmodded games then I'd be one of the first to download it.
  16. notice thw "while back" remark, meaning that it is a old SS and does not mean anything at this time. I wanted to add that Delphi said 'were' implying that they are no more. I think we can say that that confirms that they are out.
  17. Is that a pun? What's the pun, though? /wiseassmode on A sound question can be both a question about sound or a good question. The pun being that it's a good question about sound. /wiseassmode off
  18. That's gonna be hell for the imperials. As far as I know most of there weapons are lasers.. The rebels are gonna have a field day though with there rocket based artillery.
  19. Hmm I can really see a use for this. If rebel artillery can penetrate the shield while imperial artillery can't this could make for some really interesting strategies. Like parking all your units a few centimeters from the edge of the shield (on the inside) and your artillery just behind it. If the imperials come to attack they can't fire untill they pass through the shield and are at a short distance from your own units. The imperial artillery is completely unuseable in this scenario and it also limits the amount of imperial units actually fighting. (because there is only a small strip of land inbetween the edge of the shield and the rebel defenceline) This forces the imperials to either bunch up there troops in that small strip of free land and make those units a fine prey to the rebel artillery or spread out there units more and feed them to the rebels in small quantities. (while the rebel artillery showers the units waiting outside the shield) Personally I can see this leading to some very interesting strategies. Maybe I should reconsider and consider playing the rebels instead of the imperials Now back to hoping that Delphi will grace my topic about heroes with a little visit *hint hint*
  20. Hmm must've missed that one, where did you hear about the (lack of a) land pop cap? If you are indeed right then it does fix the hero problem. (provided there can be only one at a time)
  21. True and that is what I fear. 4 artillery pieces will most likely be 4 or 8 pop cap. (most likely 8 since otherwise it would be valued at the same price as an infantery squad) 8 pop cap is almost half an army, 4 is not quite as heavy but still a fifth of your total cap. (or more if you are defending) Basicly that's 4 (or 8 ) pop cap that you need just to counter that hero. Not to mention the units which that hero will kill before being shot up or the fact that there might be multiple heroes at the same time. What exactly do you mean by that? only 1 hero on the map (the battlemap that is, not the galactic map) at a time? That would be a good start to hero balancing if you ask me. That's still 3/4 heroes at a time, seeing their power in those movies would put those 3/4 heroes at about the same power as a full 20 point army...
  22. I just read that EaW will have about 7 heroes for each side and after having played WC3 for a while the shock of seeing this game turn into a hero fest struck me. I understand heroes are supposed to be cool, laser beam deflecting, army slaughtering, walking pieces of ownage but how do you take them down? Has anyone been able to uncover what weaknesses they have? (from a movie or something) or are the only practical ways to take them down the use of other heroes? All I've been able to pick up about this was a few movies of darth vader. He force-crushed tanks and did some other fancy force move to whipe out a few squads of infantery. More importantly he hardly took any damage while doing it! (5% at most) Personally I'd be very worried if I saw darth vader blowing up a mol cal cruiser in his tie fighter or seeing obi-wan going head to head with an AT-AT and seeing that monstrosity (the AT-AT that is ) buckle to it's knees. Does anyone have some more information on this?
