  1. Damn, can't make it Friday... Got plans elsewhere online -.- I need two computers >.> <.
  2. My school year only just started, still only in the second week So i'm pretty free.
  3. People must not be paying much attention <.< Which is very sad :'(
  4. Hey, you go to TAFE? Me too! Anyway, other than Wednesday and Thursday EAST time, I can make most games... As long as they arent early in the night for you Americans <.< I do like to get my sleep.
  5. Let's seee.... My system cant run Battlefield 2 so that's out of the question. I suppose Battlefield 1942 wouldn't be too expensive to get. I've got Civ4 but it wasn't working on the net for the moment, so i'll have to see about getting it working. The only C&C i've got is RA >.> I've got HL2 + CS:S so that's fine. (gonna have to install it again though, ouchies) Doubt i'll get Dawn of War. Definetly getting EaW, obviouslly. Dont have Rise of Legends Or Rise of Nations Or Rome Total War Silent Hunter 3 should be arriving soon. I've got Battlefront 2 I've got Rebellion I've got War3 + Throne I've got World of Warcraft I've got Guild Wars There And yes, Starcraft is awesome! UT2k4 is also a good for me.
  6. Sounds interesting, i'll be in! ^.^
  7. It's possible that the description is just misworded... If you think about it, a lot of the different worlds SG-1 visited were similar to different times in Earth's past. So they game may take place now and they're just saying you'll be able to travel to worlds where it seems like old Earth?
  8. I've heard that Silent Hunter 3 uses Starforce and that Starforce is pretty ****ed up. Can anyone here confirm or deny this?
  9. The stations not be able to be destroyed is annoying. Even more so when it's the enemy doing the attacking as they don't know to bring in the torpedo launchers.
  10. 10 for the space combat. I love it, it's not just about 'everything charge in and fire'. There was one battle where my ships got wiped away quickly. Then, the next battle, I had pretty much the same amount and types of ships and I won fairly easy. Also, the pop cap that we feared is indeed hardly noticeable. 5 for ground combat. It's Force Commander, what more is there to say >.>
  11. Alright, let's see. The program i'm using is the hex editor XVI32. It can be found at http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm No unpacking/packing is necessary. Just straight editing. The files i'm modifying... There are two. GameData/Data/Config.meg and GameData/sweaw.exe The first is for most of the stuff, the second is for unlocking buttons locked by the demo... I tried looking for the buttons that are locked in the space battle but I couldn't be sure i'd found them so didn't edit. One thing about editing config.meg, is that the number of characters in the file must remain exactly the same. So if you've got _Space_Planet_Eriadu_01.ted and are putting in _Space_Planet_VergessoAsteroids_01.ted (this is the method to add the asteroids space map to other planets) that's 11 more characters. So, what I do is search for the string ************* (literally) because there are several comments throughout the file with stars in them. And it's safe to delete them. So I delete 11 stars and yey, working. You'll know if you have the wrong amount of characters because EAW wont even run at all. Ummm, that's all I can think of at the moment. To be honest, I wanna go back to continuing to try and get adding maps to other planets to work.
  12. There's a way to enable /all/ the planets at once using a hex editor. It can be applied to any existing mod as far as I know. Simply use the hex editor to open the config.meg file. Search for the text string Demo_Campaign. Scroll down a little and find FALSE Simply change that to TRUE with a space on the end (to keep the file character number the same). Save. Done. Now all planets can be moved to.
  13. Well, I managed to solve the problem of the crashing, but now there's another damned problem. My test subject is Eriadu. With it's space map as it's normal one, the Empire AI is active and moves out to take several planets. However, if I change Eriadu's space map to the VergessAsteroids one, the Empire AI just shuts down and does nothing, even though I have it set at BasicEmpire. It's damned annoying because I can't test Eriadu's space map >.
  14. You managed to make a space battle over Tatooine work? I tried using the VergessoAsteroids map on Tatooine and the game crashes each time I try to run the Demo Campaign... I also had the same crash when I used the map as the Eriadu space map. And when I tried to use Tatooine for the ground map on Eriadu, it would get to the loading screen with the planet information... Then when I try to click Begin, nothing happens >.< I'd like to know how you got the Tatooine space map working. Other than that, modding the rest is easy. The Empire AI and building all ships (even those with disabled buttons) and making all planets available for capture is easy.
  15. Teradyn, I have reason to believe your ship count is incorrect. After close examination of the mini-map (by using paint to zoom in on the mini-map and identify the different types of blips) and comparing it to the playing screen, I have reason to believe there is actually a vessel, hidden behind the control panel, behind the very bottom transport shuttle. The minimap identifies this vessel as a capital ship of some sort, as it is the same type of blip as those of the other large vessels. Therefor it will impact the population cap. If it was a VSD or an Acclimator, it is likely that we would be able to see it as the ship is very close behind the transport... About as close as one Broadside is to an Acclimator and they're both overlapping. This means it is most likely a Broadside or smaller, i'm thinking Tartan. It is unlikely to be a fighter as chances are we would see atleast one of them. And like I said, the blip matches a cap ship. This does mean it will impact on the population count as 1. Now, if we were to say your pop numbers were mostly correct, this would bring the cap up to 19. This likely means that a Broadside or smaller was left behind with the ISD (which I also agree should be there for fighter delivery). So your pop numbers would be correct, except for the VSD since it is not on the map and therefor it is not possible to tell whether it would be a 2 or a 3. I agree that likely it is a 2 but it might not be. I just thought I should point out the ship you missed. It's probably just nothing but it almost appears that there are actually 3 cap ships left behind... With one squad of fighters there. But this makes little sense unless you take out the ISD. So i've decided to scrap this idea, it's just bugging me. Edit: Oh yeh, if we say the VSD is a 2 and use this pop values on the other screenshot, it would make the Death Star have a pop value of 4... Which kinda makes sense as being one more than an ISD. Edit 2: Oh hah, I realized I forgot Vader. I may have been correct and there may be three blips to the back. 1 ISD, a Broad/Tartan and Vader. I suppose it would make sense if he was to show up as a cap ship blip... And that would mean the squad of fighters towards the back would probably be the one he spawns. Edit Once Again: One more thing (probably). Is that a cloaked ship in the screenie of the DS blowing up a planet? It's shape vaguely resembles a Corellian Corvette or Gunship... It's either that or a nebula (the space phenomena, not the ship). But you can see stars through it and one of the bits you can see through it actually seems more like one of the 'embers' from the explosion than a star.
  16. Yeh. 750mb for a demo is pretty big, even for a game of this size... Might mean the demo is gonna be bigger, content wise, than we may suspect. Or not. I'm probably gonna start the download then have to wait for the next day to play. I do have DSL, but with the popularity of the game, I doubt i'll get a good enough connection to finish before I go to sleep.
  17. Wow, a lot of those pictures are beautiful! I wish they were bigger, they'd be even better. Good find!
  18. IG2 is quite similar to how EAW might be, yes. IG2 was also a great game. I could go on about the similarities and differences, but that would be off-topic. As for this demo. I dont really care what's in it, I just want it as soon as possible!
  19. 'Galactic conquest mode map' The term 'map' does not have to mean that it's a space/ground map. Nor that it's just 1 map. A galaxy of 5 planets can be considered a 'map' cause it's a map of the 5 planets. And as I said, they wont be able to actually show much at all on just 1 planet. I would personally prefer to atleast be able to build a few ships and troops... Something you cant really do on one planet because then where would the enemy come from?
  20. No, i'm thinking more like 5 planets. I believe a 'galactic conquest scenario' is the small galaxies they were talking about... Where you've only got like 10 planets on the map and you have to complete certain objectives (relative to an overall scenario). The demo will probably limit the player to a certain tech level so to not give too much while also letting the player get the experience which would be similar to those tech levels in the full game. Building and planning on the galactic level is quite an important part of the game. Only having one planet available would make the galaxy level pointless and not show enough to get people hooked.
  21. I like pretty much all of your ideas. Especially the two about the land-battle retreating and the ion cannons. I don't really know what I was hoping for... I guess at first when I read the basic description of the game, I thought 'Rebellion and Force Commander combined' (I happened to like Force Commander). In most ways, the game has actually turned out how I wanted. But there are some obvious disappointments. Not being able to intercept fleets on hyperspace routes (with an interdictor) being one. The lack of any sort of experience system being another. And the base building is hardly what I would have wanted (since there isn't a whole lot of it). The hyperspace routes are nice though. If there's one thing I love about strategy games, it's chokepoints. The Rebellion travel system made such things impossible.
  22. Half-Life 2: Best - In the airboat, fighting boss-copter. It turns towards me and starts to charge me. I sit still in the boat and start firing at it. It's already slightly damaged so didn't take much more to finish it off. Anyway, it's a burning wreck... And starts to fall down towards me. I'm like 'Oh ****' but I dont move. The wreckage hits /just/ in front of the boat and actually bounces. It flies over the top of the boat, only just barely grazing it, then hits the ground behind me and comes to a stop. Funny - Attempting to recreate that event. Succeeding several times as well as getting crushed in others. CS: Best - At a LAN party with others, we're playing CS. Most we're dead on the current map. It's just me on one team, three on the other. I'm carrying an SMG. Normally i'm a pretty crappy CS player but I was on fire that one night. I come across the first of the others, a headshot I hadn't planned on. I come across the second, there's some exchanged fire and a second headshot. I take a little damage and i've only got like 10 shots left in my SMG. I decide not to reload since I feel the risk is too great that the third should find me while i'm reloading. In fact he did and I was glad I decided not to reload, but I still only had 10 shots in the SMG. I start firing, but my aim is far from the head, mostly into the chest. By some luck, he was already mostly dead. So I managed to kill him in only a few shots, thereby winning the map for my team. Best time ever in CS for me. The cheer and declarations of disbelief that went up was also very satisfying.
  23. Hey, that's better than some people i've seen type *shiver*
  24. It'd be a simple matter of creating a program that enters a specified list of keystrokes in the shortest amount of time possible?
