  1. I agree, that would be a major reason to cut out a bunch of turrets it may be an option too, in the details menu either way, i approve of this choice, i'd rather have higher frame rates than a few extra turrets i'm never going to actually look at (unless you can view your fleets in orbit without combat, then a viewing i will go) Even if they only draw in the turbo lasers, the smaller anti fighter guns might be too small (in comparison with the rest of the massive ship) to bother modeling them in 3D and wasting polygons that could go towards making the ship itself look better and even if its true/untrue, modders will come in and make it all alright for everybody
  2. Let the awe begin! i was so happy to see the Corvette break up like the ISDs and the Vader bit that i already quoted in the update news thread But more importantly, we have a planet list, and a unit list go the Venator! and ewoks.......... endor is gone, its the first and only planet i will use the Death Star on out of spite... how could a stone age society of teddybears beat a highly mechanised and advanced fighting force that essentially controls the galaxy?
  3. To everybody having problems displaying stuff on the new site, use internet explorer or netscape firefox and opera don't seem to work with it. After watching the videos i have to agree that AT-ST damage VS Infantry is way off. Naja: the graphics looking hazy is probably an after effect, those movies would have been resized and compressed as much as possible to let people with slow connection play them i'm 100% certain the graphics will be crisp and excellent. "Thats Darth Vader! Lets get outta here!" that was great, but its not like he'd be hard to see on the battlefield, big guy, black armour, red lightsaber, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.... mwuhahaha @Gen.Vader, good work oh, @ JMaster3265 putting salt on slugs makes them shrivel up and die, hutts look like/are slugs, get it?
  4. Cool, thanks for the link
  5. Question 1: I would change the automatic repair of ships after they leave battle and put in minor repairs after battle, but damage to the hull can only be repaired in a Shipyard. This may be obvious, but i would add as many planets as human possible and have the tech tree go fully to the end of the original trilogy of course, those are assuming we are not bound by limitations of time, space and money that the devs aer Question 2: Clone Wars and Sith Wars total conversions. Its the perfect type of game for it! And maybe add in some EU stuff set after Ep6, but i doubt that (i doubt all of it, since i can't mod for shit lol)
  6. On the contrary, the bottom picture, one of the candles is out.
  7. Insultingly moddable, i don't think thats possible nothing can be too moddable! As for the ISDs, It is a sight to behold and i hope the other, smaller ships don't just go boom and disappear like the Correlian corvette (is it?) in the 1st trailer (its at about 1:20) that kinda sucks unless its a one off thing, you know, maybe the ISD busted its reactor open?
  8. Hasn't it been stated that Asteroids essentialy cause a blind spot? and that fighters can sneak through dense fields for hit and run operations were capital ships clearly cannot follow? Moons should be in, i mean, Endor is in right? Isn't it a moon that orbits a gas giant? like Yavin? and using a planet or moon to gain tactical superiority is a feature that should not be left out, lest we forgot what happened to a certain fleet, lead by a certain squid like humanoid. because it was a TRAP! Knowing is half the battle, if the enemy don't know you are there, then you're halfway to victory! radiation would be cool, it would not damage the ships or the crew, any culture that is space faring would know that ships have to be radiation sheilded and the materials they are made of can withstand the rigors of space travel then they can certainly withstand radiation, there are far worse things in the void for ships to meet up with... And its a good safety feature, it would stop you from hitting large bodies in space, and can be exploited, like most things, to serve a purpose, IE Interdictors Now, if you can disable it, you could just disable it, go to lightspeed, and once you are clear of the Interdictors gravity well, re-activate the safety feature. But that would mean Interdictors are useless, and would unbalance the game and screw with Star Wars canon. Comets would be cool, especially if the physics engine can calculate trajectories, could turn into a pinball machine of destruction while we're throwing ideas of natural events, why not solar flares? they are powerful enough to get through the Earths magnetic field and cause power outages Why not a giant EMP, knocks out shields, systems etc.? all these things could add lots of depth, or become really, really annoying...
  9. We do not have enough information, plain and simple. All topics have been exhausted... so hopefully some new info comes out soon, or this will become an Off Topic forum Exactly! Since the genre is different, it can't have too much effect on the consumer base But i've noticed just how much BFII has been advertised, here in Australia, ads for games are rare, or rather were rare. Halo 2 got a HUGE ad campaign, even here (we're not considered to be a very good market for gaming, its the reason we have to wait up to a month to get a new realease game) i saw ads for Hitman 3 in the movies and Call of Duty for the consoles, and Call of Duty 2, but none of those comapre to the pluggin BFII has received lol i can't watch TV (cable TV) for an hour without seeing an ad for BFII lol now, the real Star Wars fans will know about EaW, but the average gaming public, who might think "my god! its like a dream come true!" might not know about it Where am i going with this part of the post? I have no idea, i've kinda started ranting, but the point is: While it shouldn't effect the consumer base, it can and that every bit of publicity helps.
  10. On topic: The graphics are superb, from what i've seen everything just breaths Star Wars! The scale of units is off, but i understand that was done so people watching the demos could see the TIE fighters and such once everything is to scale, i may lose battles because i'm too busy staring at that AT-AT moving and shooting, instead of commanding the army! lol The graphics need no improvements IMO, however, if the rest of the game is on par with its graphics we have a winner, but if not... I really hope Petroglyph haven't fallen into the trend of game designers recently (that brilliant graphics can cover up weak gameplay/story) i must admit, i'm a little worried... but mostly i'm incredibly psyched this is after all, THE Star Wars game i've been waiting for since TIE Fighter
  11. Couldn't agree more, sounds like a cheap way to get around coding in shipyard repairs to me...
  12. maybe you should seek medical help now so you can play the demo when it comes out, rather than all that lol
  13. Hopefully the capital ships will repair on their own, to a certain degree, the crew will be able to fix certain systems, but a shipyard will be needed to repair damage to the hull/superstructure. Fighters should be able to be repaired in their motherships (all cap ships cabale of carrying fighters MUST have a way to maintain them, afterall) but unless they have an astromech droid, they should be unable to repair their damage in space (this could give the rebels a much needed boost in quality to deal with the empires numbers) EDIT: Sparky, really? got a link i don't think i've read that before.
  14. Might be like the Rome: Total War demo, a historic battle and a tutorial. or just 1 maybe 2 skirmish maps with some basic units (and you can play either Rebels of Imperials) and a tutorial. Either way, the demo is a christmas present i'm really looking forward to EDIT: @ Foshjedi2004 already done & thanks for the welcome
