spam isnt to bad when it comes with cheese on it.

well since the rebels have the unique ability to steal technology and resources i will probably just have a mobile fleet which can jump from system to system to stay away from the empire and have spies infiltrate them taking their resources, and technology. till i had enough of a force to stand against them that is. So i guess this is just a different versoin of "building up"

strange they always just waited for me but i was playin lastnight and i sent my corvettes and fighters thru the astroids while my nebulon frigates were where they started, and the IMP capitol ships went after my nebulon Bs
-
well going by the demo it doesnt look like the ai comes for you they waited in a group. Maybe you could pick off a few fighters without engaging heavily. but if your talking about the ground campaign, i made short work of the base by sending the natives in from the south with a few heavier troops and sent my main heavy hiters in from the north to take out as much as i could before the enemy could make it back north.
-
i sent in 3-4 corvettes to take out all the fighters fast then used there engines to get out before they took any serious damage. i did a few runs of this it really helps thin out fighter squadrons.by the time i had all fighters gone the 3 corvettes were at about 55-70% armor then i just had them sit back a bit and recharge shields, and sent my nebulon-b frigates to take out the ships after they were targeted i sent the corvettes back in to help lol.

Yea i agree a suprise attack thru the asteroids with your Y wings can take out the stations hangar before it can launch its fighters. the station also seemed to have infinite fighters the time i didnt destroy the hangar. Station: Hangar bay Missile launcher turbolasers lasers VSD: Turbolasers shield generators Acclamator: same as VSD

I played the sapce battle to death the ngiht i got it, found out some good strats, i also found out that the AI uses a different strat each time. First i just went in guns blazin 4 corrilian corvettes. 3 Nebulon bs a few squads of x and y wings. I had my y wings do bomb runs on the ships and had all my ships attack the Vsd then the acclamator. after that was easy. Then after i saw how much punishment The millenium falcon could take i went in and solod the mission with it. My favorite strat was sending my Y wings around behind the astroids and thru the nebula, then have my X wings draw all the imp fighters away and have my Y wings lead bombing runs on the Stations hardpoints(hanger bay first) from behind, the station couldnt get all of its fighters out of its bay. I also found out VSDs cant fire at something behind them. I had a nebulon-b come up behind him and tear the VSD a new one without getting hit at all. The AI seems to have trouble prioritizing targets it chased a fleeing corevette while my nebulon B stayed behind it un touched it solod the VSD.

Also Han solo in the millenium falcon is to strong, i solod the space mission with it if you dont believe me i can fraps it and send to you. It was on hard setting too. Also i thought the VD was a bit weak 2 nebulon Bs shouldnt be able to take it that easy. Other then that this game is great i love the nebulas i did a suprise attack with Y- wings. I loved the ground battles too this game will be alot of fun. i thoguht the demo would hold me over till the release it just made my anticipation worse. -
i meant if i accidently blew up the emperors ship. As in when the game just started to get good your opponent bring the emperor into battle andyou win by accident.
-
i would go with a completely different strat

My thoughts on this one were to have the 2 moncals and 2/3 corvettes slowly move away from the imperials. Then the 2 strike cruisers, one of the corvettes and a squadron of fighters move far around to the flank and hope the imperials will break into 2 groups to follow. I would wait till there was enough space between the 2 imperial groups so it would be hard for the groups to back each other up. Then i would have my main group move out of orbit and slowly back in the direction of the flank( subtilty in this maneuver would be important). If i caught the imperials unaware i could then have the 2 Moncals haul ass to the smaller imperial group that broke off. While The corvettes, and all the rest of the fighters tried to slow down the main imperial group. assuming this worked i would catch the smaller imperial group alone and make short work of them. Then even if i lost the 2 corvettes and alot of the fighters i would atleast be on even terms with the remaining imperials. They possibly would even withdraw to reinforce their fleet and return by then my reinforcements would have arrived.

Heres a scenario: There was a small rebel fleet of 2 Moncals, 3 Corvettes, and 2 strike cruisers. They jump into a system to protect an uprising that took place on a small outer rim world. They had been there for a few hours and sent in air support to assure the win for freedom. after all was and done the world was free. Just as you recieve orders to hold the world till reinforcements can arrive(20 hours) at all costs, a fleet of IMperials jump in to crush your rebellion. Imperial fleet consists of 3 ISD 2 VSD and an Interdictor cruiser. All ships have a full compliment of fighters. WHat would you do...?
-
i was under the impression rebels wouldnt have interdictors. Tho if they did have them, I would just lead an all out assualt on the interdictor since it cant take much punishment, and even with half weapons the ISDs can still take alot punishment. I would do this in 1 of 2 ways, first i would go on the assumption you want all the Sds to get out. In both strats i'd sacrifice all my fighters lol. Charge! I would send my fighters in ahead to take out as many of the moncal ion cannons as possible, and if there are still some left i would send them in an all out assualt on the interdictor. Then i would send the SDs in right after full speed ahead at the interdictor, and take it out, i think they all could get out tho heavily damaged. Next i would just sacrifice one of the SDs to save the other 2have the SD head in full speed at the interdictor. All fighters would follow it and use the SD as a shield, when they are in range the SD would open fire on the interdictor. when the SD is in position the fighters would come out from behind the SD in an all out do or die assualt on the interdictor.im pretty sure the isd would be able to atleast shield the fighters long enough for them to make their runs ont he interdictor, even if it was destroyed or disabled in the process. the problem with this scenario is that when rebel fighters outnumber imperial fighter the ties have no chance.
-
i really hope that isnt true, i would hate to accidently blow up the emperors ship when the game is just gettin started kind of a waste. Atleast if they add this i would hope they can make it so you can change the victory conditions.
-
yea the final battle will really be the climax of the war, followed by a steady decline of the losing force. By the time you get to the last fight you will be sick of the game cause you spent the last 30mins-1hr stomping out your enemy.
-
Empire isnt quality lol, tie fighters = cheap mass produced, x wings = smaller numbers higher quality. as far as capitol ships MCs are slightly smaller and less armed but the empire has a higher production copacity.
-
I was just looking on the eaw site and saw a class of ship called the "Broadside Cruiser". This is the first evidence imo that there will be atleast a variation of the ships of the line formation.
-
yea blowing up plnets is only fun for so long, you cant blow up the whole galay.
-
the rebels are gonna be starting ina very weak position too in the beginning they might not even have a full fleet to engage with the imperials.
-
in that 47 min video they said capitol ships cost alot of money multiple invasion, aand spearhead fleets dont sounds a viable option. I was gonna use deadeys tactic tho ><. Assuming you can call a fleet back mid hyperspace(idk if you can or not) you can send the spearhead fleet in, then send the invasion fleet in right on its heals, so that its almost instant. If you lose the fleet battle, call your invasion fleet back. This would depend on if you can contact a fleet in hyperspace. Since time stops during fleet engagements, you should be able to call your invasion fleet back if you lose.
-
well no strategy will be 100% foolproof but it will be like a chess game, ppl testing different strats out, and adjusting accordingly when it hits the fan. and you forget my fighters will be tangling with their fighters so it will balance out.
-
i dont think you could fire a surface based ion cannon during a fleet battle it would be to inaccurate and would probably hit your own ships. Same as the deathstar firing on capitol ships, would it be accurate enough to hit only rebel ships while there were imperial ships swarming around them? I think if you can fire the death star on capitol ship there should be a certain amount of distance between both fleets to be sure cause you wouldnt want to risk hitting your own ships. same with ion cannons i guess but the death star is in a better position to make an accurate shot.
-
my favorite ships in star wars are corillian corvettes, nebulon frigates, and dreadnoughts i will always make a fleet out of those if i can. i would only have mon cals for my main fleet. In the beginning tho a few dreads surrounded by corvettes and some fighters is the best fleet, since you probably wont be engaging the imperials much to start.
-
well should be pretty easy to have them go in a line, just send them all the the same spot but wait a few seconds so the do it 1 after the other. Im sure there will be manvuers ppl use, if we are anything its creative.
-
I'm pretty sure alot of those strategies will work but for that crescent one dont you need fast ships with a very long fire range? also idk if you can make that specific ship movements to make those formations but we can always hope^^
