  1. The X-wing was still in wide use before, during and after the Vong Wars. The E-wing was just too expensive to mass produce.
  2. Oh f--king hell..I've got like 6 games on that list..4 of them I still play regularly.
  3. Bridge Commander was a great game, try looking for it on ebay. Definately worth having in your collection.
  4. Unfortunately there is nothing you could have done. One transport would have chased the other around stupidly trying to destroy the other but not scoring enough good hits on it to matter.
  5. I do believe this is that whole "quality" aspect we've been hearing about. While Rebs can hit more and often requiring less ships, Imps need more to score those hits. And yes I meant the other way around.
  6. Think of it this way, its an interesting concept..although I'd rather set it in the here and now, and have you go fighting and stuff..but this still means tons of places to go explore through the network, tons of dangers in multiple places and the ability to expand. Now if they have a fucked up combat system like say...SWG then its another story.
  7. What the hell is Starforce? The only program I'm using with SH3 is SH3 Commander which gives you a nice little break down on your commander adding depth to the person you play. Rather cool as it updates with your kills.
  8. Well considering overall size it really isnt that hard to miss an ISD as opposed to say the Corvette. As to their place in my fleet, all I can really consider using them for a handful of manuvers none of them I feel like discussing at the moment because I'm going to be playing against some of you guys in the future. I dont want to reveal anything.
  9. Here we go. Now that I've been playing SH3 in depth I've got a new story to add to the annals of the game hating me. I decided after a rather dull run. It still being rather early in the war and all and its not like there are massive convoys for me to hit...anyway..I purposely decide not to flank it since I want to conserve my fuel for a run on Scapa Flow. For those of you who have no fucking clue what I'm talking about here's a brief rundown. SH3=Silent Hunter 3, puts you in command of one of the German Kriegsmaine's U-boats during the second World War. Scapa Flow= Major northern British naval base for the entirety of the war. I'm coming the western side of Ireland about 600km out when I run into a storm rounding the northern tip of Scotland. I figure, its a good omen because this means British fighters, and bombers wont be able to spot me, and believe me, those Hawker Hurricanes have gotten too close for comfort more than any number of times. So my U-boat is crusing the surface (since its faster than traveling underwater thanks to the limited life of the batteries in the VIIB class of U-boats and their overall lack of power) when I switch over to the nagivators map to plot out my course and figure out if I'm going to do a complete four spread of torpedos or if I want to take my time and line up my shots. I'm not paying attention to whats going on, and granted the weather is horrible. My lookouts even my best look out fail to see the V&W class Destroyer traveling right infront of my bow..surprisingly the Destroyer didnt see me either. And then I realized I was going to hit the damn thing. BOOM, my nose crushes right up against the midsection of the destroyer and you can hear the aweful groan. Of course, the Destroyer pops on her search lights and I get one to the face. Now comes the frantic part of me screaming at my computer while I order an emergency dive. It takes about 15-20 seconds before my submarine(traveling backwards after I order an emergency reverse) and the fucker starts to shell me at close range. The conn room of my U-boat goes from the normal light to the dim red emergency lights, the water main breaks, luckly I'm not really taking on any water just yet. Turning away from Scapa Flow I proceed to head back toward Kiel as fast as humanly possible. Of course with the occassion depth charge right on my ass. God I wish I had a screen shot of my U-boat just the moment its about to hit the Destroyer..talk about a once in a million stroke of bad luck.
  10. Meh, how about 9:30? I'm at work until 8 on Saturday.
  11. I can do it Friday or Saturday. Sunday being the Superbowl I'm going to a coworkers house(big tv, great sound system, lots of food and drink. Cant pass it up). Just need a time and I'll check my work schedule.
  12. I dont know..if you stare at the crackling energy long enough it might just spell dome...you may have to be under the influence of alcohol for it to happen but its certainly probable for it to happen.
  13. Well true, but looking at the staggering losses, one U-boat wouldnt have changed the war, it would have taken a complete slew of factors. Of which we have no control over(damn inevitable Russian winters). Of course I'm in the middle of the torpedo training, just sunk my third ship. Caught the small tanker right on the bow..the damage modeling is outstanding. The tanker sunk bow first dragging the aft into the air, and then went down bow first with the aft bobbing in the water for several seconds before sinking entirely.
  14. This is a rather fun game, now I know why you keep hyping it so much. Doing a weapons solution on the map and then watching as the torpedo zooms in, counting down on the chronometer outloud..sooner or later when I've got the game down I'll put everything in German just to be authentic. Of course while this is rather fun I wish they would do more WWII sub games for the other theaters. In the Pacific US and Japanese submarines fought every bit as hard as the German uboats. Japanese torpedos were just as exotic(Kaiten human torpedos come to mind) and US submarines choked the living shit out of countless Japanese islands starving them of supplies.
  15. It shall be me first I suspect. I picked up the game today for about 17 bucks at my Best Buy..gotta love the employee discount. Anyway, from flipping through the manual I've got abit to learn. So this should be rather fun. I am a big fan of the WWII era, not so much the modern area..technology has removed a lot of the stress from modern sub combat. Depth charge and hedgehog evasion is far more entertaining.
  16. Oh right..so he can piss on established EU again and reassert his right over everything? Or come up with another infantile sterotype of a character? Or better yet, how about tying in another sappy love story into the whole affair?
  17. Unfortunately, Lucas has said there wont be a 7,8 or 9. Or should I say fortunately? After he made 1-3 I'm not sure what else I want to see that he can butcher.
  18. I'll believe it when I see it. Frankly after KOTOR II I'm in not particular rush to see III. Especially if it might be rushed out the door intime for the holiday season. Granted we dont exactly know how long its been in development(it could be going on right now..we dont know.)
  19. Kamino was the world where they held the cloning program.
  20. Better yet, even if you take out the engines, most SW ships come with back up retro engines designed to work solely for that kind of emergency.
  21. Yea..thats an Action IV from Rebellion..of course it looks different...maybe a special character?
  22. PC:(2006) Empire at War Stargate: Alliance Spores(its supposed to be released Q3) Battlestations: Midway Star Trek: Legacy Medieval Total War 2 Company of Heros Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures Enemy Territory:Quake Wars Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter PS2:(2006) Ace Combat Zero: The Belkin War The Godfather PSP:(2006) Generation of Chaos(for those of you who remember Dragon Force for the Sega Saturn you will more than definately want to get this game. From the previews I've read the game is of the same format. Comes out Feb 28th) Steel Horizon(This game just looks cool) Star Trek: Tactical Assault
  23. You could always get an SNES emulator, and DL Utopia which is an extra-solar colony simulator. Pretty fun. You get to wage war on enemy civs, of course you dont control the battles but you get to conduct intelligence so on and so forth.
  24. SH3, isnt that the game you can use with Destroyer Command so that you can actually have a multiplayer game where someone controls the DD, against the U-boat? How would multiplayer work anyway? Each person controlling an option of the submarine? Do we each control our own? I get paid Friday so I'm definately interested. I've been on a game buying spree(picked up X3 last week). I had considered Imperial Glory but I'm iffy on it.
