I'm thinking this is a United States thing, so do any of my fellow yanks remember when Thanksgiving used to be be Thanksgiving and not Christmas, part 1? Seriously, as early as last Friday I saw holiday decorations up in stores and these ecorations were on sale since the beginning of the month. My local LAN center put up a Christmas tree last Tuesday.... W... T... F!?!?!?!?! Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the rabid commercialism that is the holiday season, but can't I eat my turkey first before the corporations mind rape me? The holiday season seems to get earlier and earlier every friskin' year. By my calculations, in about 8 years Santa is going to be handing out Halloween candy in the mall! Think about it, do you find that really surprising? Now you can be forgiven if you get your holiday shoping done in October (though I perfer the thrill of last minute shopping on Dec. 23rd and the numerous fights that occurs), but do you really need to have your tree set up then? I think it should be federal law that no Christmas decorations are allowed to be publicly displayed untill December. If you do not comply with this law, you will rescieve a Rodney King style beating by the local law enforcement (which would probably do so anyways) and all of your holiday decorations publicly burned. Okay, maybe the enforcement is a little over-the-top, but if a school in Pennsylvania can have a local law passed that you aren't allowed to critizes anyone's values, I think I can get a ban on pre-December holiday decorations! Who follows free speech now-a-days anyhow?
