  1. Yes it is. Though for me primarily, it's imagining I'm actually winning a game of multi player, something I think has only happened once (properly, there was that other time... but they quit early...but I could have had him I tell you! I definitely could have had him!) I too...love this game
  2. I do believe your right and that is a very good question... ...one, I don't know the answer to It could make all the difference but why move away from BioWare? I thought they were doing well (though I suppose that's been RPG only? Not sure)
  3. Nice house! Hope it's living up to expectations. Though re the previous owner, I'd be furious if my daughter left after only 1 year when I'd spent all that money! If I had a daughter of course which I don't... but been with my missus for 13 years with marriage on the cards in the next few years and I expect children will follow a couple more after that We live in a little, back-to-front 3 bed terrace (we're in the UK, so when I say little, I mean LITTLE) with a tiny courtyard garden at the back and a not much bigger and completely un-private front garden (I'm having terrible troubles growing grass out the front - not green fingered at all!); it's on a reasonable housing estate in a quiet - and reassuringly expensive - country town. (helps keep out the riff-raff ) though please don't think I'm a snob - 'cos I 'aint. I'm working class, what the ancient aristocracy would have called....scum. It's just that we seem to have more than our fair share of utter assholes in our country, both immigrants and our own alike (damn benefit scroungers! ) Oh.. the reason the house is back to front is because the back garden leads on to the road/cul-de-sac, whilst the front garden leads on to a path. How backwards is that? It's prevalent throughout this part of the estate and yet I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere else, ever. I've never lived in a house where the back door gets used as the front door and the front door gets used as the back door. Strange! Little boxes on the hillside Little boxes made of ticky-tak Little boxes on the hillside Litt-le boxes alll the same
  4. Same here - had to look it up. Congratulations on the new pet - I've always thought dogs are great animals, Though my missus is a cat lover...and yes we have a cat but no dog. Still it's MY cat - like Toph he was abandoned or possibly just a stray that started camping out in our front garden about 2 years ago. He'd mow at us as we went by and after a few weeks of this, I came home one day in the early hours of the morning (very, very drunk) and decided to take pity on the poor, dishevelled fella and fed him a can of tuna - haven't been able to get rid of him since! (anyone seen that cartoon 'The cat came back the very next day'?) and much to my missus annoyance (she's had cats all her life - I've had dogs) he does what I say and never what she says Still, well done to you and your good lady for adopting a rescue dog - there are some who wouldn't even countenance such a thing, which I think is a great shame.
  5. Thanks Wish I could take credit for it though - the clue was provided by gameranger itself: the file name was preloaded into the 'browse' 'add game' window - I was too busy finding my SUPREMACYexe. to notice It must have taken over a dozen attempts across 3 days before I realised Still thought it a good idea to document it - might stop someone making the same mistake
  6. This looks awesome - HUGE thumbs up!! Two questions if I may? 1. Could anyone point out the download link please? - every link I've tried doesn't seem to have anything attached: could just be me being stupid/unobservant. 2. Is there anything I might do to help? (sorry - no programming skills unfortunately)
  7. Howdy, Not been on SWR for a few years but got the bug to play again, so here I am! Already been able to hook up with Cromwell and get a game going - I think I'm destined to lose this one but hey-ho, you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs! I'll get him on the rematch If any one else is looking for a game let me know - PM/email; gameranger; hamachi
  8. UPDATE Just wanted to say I got the UK version of Rebellion working on Gameranger eventually. Could have kicked myself it was so damn easy! All you have to do is rename the "SUPREMACY.EXE" file to "REBEXE.EXE" Hope that helps some UK player somewhere (though I doubt it - there doesn't seem to be many of us!)
  9. Hi there I too am an old player, recently returned to the fold, though it hasn't been 10 years for me. If your still looking for that multiplayer game PM me. I'm on GMT time just so you know and do have to plan ahead re game time but would well want to play again!
  10. I'm not hopeful with EA at the helm - not the best to my mind but here's to living in hope...
  11. Unfortunately for me GameRanger doesn't recognise the UK version - the only difference is the name (for some stupid reason it got called something different over here from the rest of the world: SW Supremacy). If anyone knows a workaround to get it going on GameRanger please let me know.
  12. Merry Christmas to all. And a Happy New Year. Best Wishes
  13. You could try this from amazon uk: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/277-9749738-6017758?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=starwars+supremacy At £12.90 its much cheaper but I dont think they deliver to the US (assuming thats where you are and assuming I've read the delivery right- they'll deliver DVDs to the US but not Video games- seems odd?!?). That doesn't mean some one like myself, who lives in the UK couldn't get it for you and post it on to you. As far as I'm aware the UK version is the same but just called supremacy instead. If anyone knows different please do contradict me.

  16. Just an update to my post above. After getting a very occasianonal lock up/crash I've started checking the 'External NVT Commands Port: 2003' which seems to have solved the issue.
  17. The best way I've found to get Multiplayer to work is by using Hamachi in combination with the 'HW Virtual Serial Port'. (first reported by krystophv, available here: http://www.hw-group.com/products/hw_vsp/index_en.html ) Hamachi networks: I've found a total of 14 networks, most labelled 'swrebellion' or 'swrebellion1/ 2/ 3...etc' (there's 1-12 that I know of), all with the password 'starwarsrebellion' (except 'swrebellion7'). There's also 'swsupremacy', which has no password. (P.S. if there are any active players on network 'swrebellion7', is there any chance I can get the password?) Using HW's VSP: After installation and starting, click 'Login', password 'admin'. If login is greyed out, try uninstalling and re-installing VSP -this happened to me first time around when it told me to reboot after installation. Hint: Don't reboot, it's not required. One person checks the 'TCP server mode' box in the Settings tab. Then in the Virtual Serial Port tab creates a com (Com 3 or 4 are the only ones available once in Rebellion) with their own Hamachi IP address and any port (we used port 1000 and 'External NVT Commands Port' was checked: port 2003). Click 'Create com' and it should report: LAN status -listen. The other person creates a com with the same numbers, using the 1st person's Hamachi IP. Click 'Create com' and it should report: LAN status -connected. That's it, go in game and use 'Serial Connection for Direct Play' (using whichever Com no. you picked in VSP, leave all other settings as is). So far, I know of half a dozen people who have tried this and it has worked. (many thanks to JediIgor and krystophv)
  18. Not on MSN but I'm regularly on Hamachi networks - 'swrebellion' (No.'s 1-12, password 'starwarsrebellion')+'swsupremacy' (open network). - addict-ant
  19. Tough situation, if I was you I'd keep Luke hidden on a planet training jedi (with the fleet protecting it, if you can spare it) and use that jedi knight and other jedi or characters to mount a rescue for Mon Mothma. If you lose Luke now, you'll lose the game. Once you have Mon Mothma back you can be a bit more aggressive with Luke.
  20. You're right that is a wicked Star Destroyer
  21. You should definitely get this game. Personally, I think no other game has got the tactical depth rebellion has whilst maintaining ease of management. The Civ and Total War series are as deep, if not deeper but the bigger you get in those games, the more of a headache it is to manage all your cities/provinces. I don't think rebellion suffers from that at all and then there's the RPG elements, which to me, are the icing on the cake. Of course there is the fact the graphics are terrible these days and the interface can be difficult to get use to. Multiplayer is excellent but I've found you need to use hamachi in combination with HW's Virtual Serial Port, both of which are very easy to use and generally pretty reliable. (if u do get it, look for a match on Hamachi network 'swrebellion', password 'starwarsrebellion')
  22. That is cool. Good find
  23. I don't know about gaining points from failed missions (I've never noticed) but it is possible to gain force rankings through missions. It is a lot slower (will take loads of missions) but you'll get your stats higher that way. I'm fairly certain its only Luke who can train jedi for the rebels.
  24. Just wanted to echo Ceorl's thoughts (I'm the other fella) and say how we got it to work. We used Hamachi in combination with the 'HW Virtual Serial Port' krystophv recommended above. (available here: http://www.hw-group.com/products/hw_vsp/index_en.html ) One person checks the 'TCP server mode' box in the settings tab. Then in the virtual serial port tab creates a com (com 3 or 4) with their own Hamachi IP address and any port (we used 1000 and NVT wasn't checked). Click 'create com' and it should report: LAN status -listen. The other person creates a com with the same numbers, using the 1st person's Hamachi IP. Clicking 'Create com' and it should report: LAN status -connected. That's it, go in game and use serial connection. Thanks for all the posts.
  25. Fantastic. I was beginning to despair of anyone being up for a game. Do you have Hamachi? What time zone are you in? I'm fairly free this weekend too. I'll try to stay logged in for the next 8 hours (if not more), see if we can get it to work.
