    Remember that Red Squadron is more than a Fighter Squadron. It is a Fighter Group. Red Group At Yavin had in total 36 X-wing fighters (1 Wing) and at Endor Red Squadron was 2 wings inc Rogue Squad and a number of other Elite Squadrons.

    Mara can convert a Squad to the Empire's side for a short period of time: aka Mind Trick.

    The Eclipse is only available to the Imperial Remnant and at certain times of the Campaign. Plus it is a VERY VERY Expensive unit to construct.
