  1. 0.49997 is the beta of the beta to be honest, I'm not sure where you can get it anymore either. Because it's not an actual "release" like 0.45 a few things tend to go screwy now and then. if you've just got 0.45, just wait the few weeks/months or so until EJ releases 0.5
  2. v0.49997 removed the "attack rating" and "health" numbers for the ships, which were incorrect due to the way HW2 calculates things, and replaced it with a better (imo - some disagree), more minimalist UI. errors in the build descriptions aren't exactly a pressing issue, so I guess whenever EJ gets around to it but, yes, the attack rating/health confusion is sorted.
  3. Warlords 0.45 = don't pay attention to some of the on screen info Warlords 0.49997 = don't go by the info in the build description...as some ships have more weapons than described. the only way to really know is go into the .ship files and count the number of weapon subsystems ...but as a rule of thumb, expensive ships generally have a reason for being so, whether it is survivability, firepower, special ability etc.
  4. I play reinforcements, 100k start, 50k lump sum (variable, depending on game), no injections. Makes it akin to a tabletop game rather than an RTS. Sirocco, when you load is there an option for Warlords o.45 in Game type?
  5. the SPHA-T cannon is also modelled. though not as good as the Munificent's TL15
  6. low RAM might be the issue - stock HW2 needs at least 256MB, but recommends 512MB. Warlords will probably run on 512MB, but 256 is probably too low. Hell, I had issues with it running 768MB... my suggestion is to fork out for some extra RAM - it's fairly cheap for a single stick of 512MB, and it'll save you some hassle in the long run. With everything - not just Warlords
  7. what gfx cards, memory, processor etc? remember Warlords is a *lot* more resource hungry than stock HW2, so if you're running at the edges you may have stability issues.
  8. yep HW2 still works fine after mod installs - it just uses different shortcuts to point to the pertinent files.
  9. gday was wondering if anyone knew the code line for the length/duration of each research item, or whether that is hardcoded. likewise, if it is hardcoded, whether there is a limit to the number of research levels the games has - ie change the interdictor from Level 7 to level 14 and so forth. The idea is to extend the length of time passed between each new discovery, making the various research "eras" last longer. It also makes new discoveries have a much longer "active" time become they become superceded by a new idea. ideally, the various troop research levels would be much greater extended, so that a new troop type has an overwhelming advantage when it first comes into play cheers for any info, both in the affirmative or negative.
  10. this is to do with XP not having a autoexec.bat file. well it does, but it's hidden warning! don't do this unless you have an inkling of what you're doing. (this is using WinXP Pro SP2) in your C:\Windows\Repair folder, there should be a AUTOEXEC.NT and CONFIG.NT file. Make a backup of these, and and then rename the AUTOEXEC.NT file "AUTOEXEC.BAT", and the CONFIG.NT file "CONFIG.SYS" now copy these renamed files into your C:\Windows\System32 folder you may need to reboot (can't remember), but then the installation/program should be fine. Btw, try changing the compatibility first too. It didn't work for me, but it may for you. hope that helps
  11. the docking issue is more to with the fighters lining up correctly to dock - the Escort CV is a pain because the fighters dock at the front, but it is one of the easier platforms to dock with in reality. the best advice for docking is to put the fighters on defensive/passive stance, as aggressive seems to muck about the docking sequence, and then dock a few Sqns at a time - this can be annoying, especially if you have all your bombers say as Group 2. My other piece of advice (after much experimentation at work ) is to not dock like units in the same carrier vessel - ie split up the distribution of carried smallcraft. For example, carry 4 fighters, four bombers and four Assault transports in an ISD, rather than 12 of each. The more you have of one thing trying to dock, the more pain you're going to go through. as for the VSD, make sure Concussion Missiles II or III has been researched as well. If they're researched first, the VSD I becomes available at the same time as the II. The VSD II just uses easier to research components.
  12. this is for command decision exercises, so the students have to be constrained with resources. It defeats the purpose if they know they have more RUs coming in.
  13. cheers Evaders - I suppsoe I'll use Starting RU plus Lump Sum to get the desired result
  14. just wondering about the starting RU amounts. If I change the Warlords.lua so the amounts are different, will this affect multiplay in anyway? ie I want to change the numbers to 200k, 300k, 400k etc, rather than the jump from 100k to 500k that exists atm. cheers
  15. ed: this is fictious (obviously) AAR, done in the same style as the ones I sit through all the time AAR Transcript – CPT Ardan Tomas, Addressing Fleet High Command upon Conclusion of OP: Dominion. (Present: ADMs Tuker, Cutley, Vorsk, CPTs Facis, Leongard. GEN. Ramis.) ADM Tuker: Captain, having read your report on the Mitlan skirmish, the committee has a few questions. Bear in my mind this is not the disciplinary council, but our finding will be passed to them. ADM Vorsk: Captain Tomas! Tell us how you came to lose three of your ships! CPT Tomas: Admirals, Captains. The Mitlan “skirmishâ€
