  1. Wow. Stellar, that's just brilliant...pity though, because you couldn't publish it officially for legal reasons but if you changed the names...and a few other things...
  2. Jedi characters other than Luke, Leia, Vader and the Emperor never seem to fight each other in one to one duels. That is rather disappointing because it could make for good gameplay if you have Jedi duels and the characters go up in force ranking just like Luke does when he fights Vader or the Emperor. They only seem to use their Jedi abilities to detect traitors, which is not much.
  3. Bevel's only use when he's finished researching is to transport prisoners. With the threat of him doing unspeakable acts that even a Hutt wouldn't do, the prisoners are well behaved and you don't require an escort. It's rumoured that the horrible slimy canivorous thing in the trash compactor on the first Death Star was Bevel's pet...
  4. I wonder if fighters on ships repair more quickly then fighters sitting on a planet with no shipyards? It would be interesting to find out if capital ships that carry fighters can repair them at different rates. The bigger the capital ship and the more advanced maybe means they have better repair rates for fighters. I'm not sure if this has been discussed in another forum, if it has I apologise for going over old ground
  5. I am not surprised about Chewbacca's effort. Has anyone considered that Chewbacca is one of, if not, the oldest character in the Rebellion game? He is certainly older than Palpatine. His stats don't reflect this of course but they should. I'm not sure about the life cycle of a Wookie, but even if they don't become mature adults until 50, that still means Chewbacca has had 150 years of life experience honing his skills. Experience is priceless, it cannot be "implanted" or created. I know the game wouldn't take into account Chewbacca's age and skills, but wouldn't it be interesting if it did?
  6. See my post after your first one, is that what you meant? I was the guy talking about it
  7. This is a paste about a chat regarding this: [13:52] heh, just imagine if the "alien" roswell landings was really humans arriving from 100's of years in the future, but due to drugs/genetic enhancements, they're unrecognisable as humans [13:53] actuall that makes a lot of sense [13:54] theyre obviously humanoid [13:54] the grays at least [13:54] yes [13:54] pale skin = long time in stuffy space ships [13:54] hm [13:54] theyre small and skinny = atrophy from zero g and no physical exertion [13:54] what about aversion to natural light [13:54] they'd need to wear sunglasses [13:54] or eye implants [13:55] hence big black eyes [13:55] well i read somewhere, that humans will evolve into beings with large heads and skinny arms/legs ... because we'll use ESP and psychic powers to do all the physical tasks, so physical strength is not a factor [13:56] heh esp is sci-fi fantasy [13:56] but in space with high tech [13:56] and no g [13:56] we would atrophy into small bodied beings [13:56] and with machines to do all our work [13:56] yes [13:56] wed be skinny runts So the Nomads would be shorter, skinnier than normal humans but have enhanced psychic abilities. Or what about if the Nomads genetically enhanced themselves...so they would still *look* like humans, but just have psychic powers and be physically stronger. They could also use drugs to counter the *pain* of being so powerful, both in mind and body, with serious consequences if the drug isn't taken. This could be classed as a resource, they need a certain something to make the drug, so it could be something found on planets to fight over. Without the drugs, the small Nomads cannot control their abilities. You could have an event similiar to maintence shortfall where a Nomad who doesn't use the drug blows up something random because they've flipped. There could be two groups of Nomads, those who are physically small but with psychic abilities and those who are bigger than normal humans, with emphasis placed on physical strength. Kind of like the Master/Blaster combo in Mad Max. The big guys are the bodyguards, slaves, warriors of the Nomads. The small guys could use illusions (due to their psychic ability) to keep the big guys in line. The illusions only work on humans who haven't trained themselves to *see* past it. Yet the humans evolve and either use technology to see past the illusions or do it naturally. The illusions could be used in battle situations, or to seemingly move objects etc. But it could make for interesting scenarics with Nomads spreading out and conquering the galaxy...and with the mixed influences, the bigger Nomads could rebel after finding out that the smaller Nomads were using illusions to keep them in line and make them slaves. This could mean that everyone is fighting each other. So you would maybe have a warrior class of Nomad who are physically superior to humans (but still look human), several classes of smaller Nomads (based on levels of psychic ability, you could call them "The Chosen" and they use "the force"). Then you'd have the humans, the normal ones then they could evolve to *unlock* their minds or use technology and become psychic. It would make sense if it was a genetic trait, think of Star Wars with Anakin passing on his force abilities to Luke and Leia. So if this is genetic it means that only some humans and the small Nomads will be psychic. Maybe there could be a seperate thread where the humans and Nomads are looking for the genetic code or enhancement that would cause them to be psychic. Thats all for now, I'll keep looking back and seeing how things are progressing.
  8. I run Rebellion on XP on a laptop, it runs ok but the screen size in the game is reduced to about half the screen centred in the middle. Is there any way to improve this? Laptop specs are: Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz 15" screen Model is EiSystem 4415 (UK) I can still play the game ok but having a smaller screen makes it difficult sometimes.
  9. I shake when I hear the term commerce raider. Playing against Imperator2, I learnt several valuable lessons...NEVER UNDERESTIMATE COMMERCE RAIDERS. The story goes that apparently 1 single VSD was responsible for mostly bringing my production plummetting down to -700 !!!! How I recovered to fight back, I do not know. But at the end of our game (declared as a win to the Empire), the galaxy was in ruins. Resources are the lifeblood of the game. Without them, you will not have your grand majestic fleets, or have your systems bristling with fighter sqaudrons and defenses. If you do not have resources, you will LOSE the game pretty quickly. You must prepare defenses for your resource planets. You will not be wasting time, you will be ensuring that you will be able to play the game and possibly win. Let me say this again, without resources you will LOSE the game. The Imperial forces have the VSD which makes for an excellent raider as pointed out. The rebels lack such a ship that matches their Imperial counterpart. Needless to say...if B-Wings could fly to systems like ships... B-Wings rock. Come on Imperator2, tell me how much you love B-Wings?
  10. I hope all of you horrible people know how to play Rebellion with no legs!
  11. I guess my favourite ships would be the Interdictor cruiser and CC-7700 frigate. Once you have them, you can go on "search and destroy" ship missions. Build up a few capital ships to take on other ships, build a few anti-fighter ships and make sure you take a sizeable number of fighters. Escort carriers are not to be underestimated in this regard. These fleets are good for taking out annoying raiders and patrolling the outer rim systems. If the opposing side is silly enough to have an unsupported ISD or Mon Cal hiding in the outer rim preparing for a strike, then your ship hunting fleet will make short work of it.
  12. If I find you, I'll show you what Ewok's are made of, my friend
  13. I don't really go for the fleet idea. Each game is different and if you start having a pattern of ship building against your opponents, they will begin to work out strategies to counter it, such as building bigger fleets. You have to adopt to each situation. If you find your opponent has certain ships, you build bigger and better ships (of course, if they have SSD's and Death Stars then you can't). The Empire lacks the ability to build a good capital ship quickly in the beginning of the game. The Rebels start off with Wedge Antilles so they can start research ships straight away. Which means they can build the Neb Frigate sooner. 3 Neb's with fighters are a match for 1 ISD and TIE's. Initially for the Empire, it's better to build VSD's and then at least 2 Escort Carriers with TIE's for each VSD in the fleet. This is to provide some protection against the rebel fighters who love nothing more than to pound a helpless capital ship with weak shields. The ISD's take too long to build in the beginning and VSD's are a good investment because of their high bombardment factor. For patrols against incoming raiders, even a Dreadnought will do the job. A Dreadnought can take on Corvettes and Bulk Cruisers (it's unlikely that the Rebel player will be using stronger ships for raiders due to the risk of sabotage and also the fact that these ships are being taken out of the fleets). I once had a problem with a raiding Carrack and Dreadnought from the Imperials, I built a Neb and chased them out of the sector.
  14. Have a look at this: http://www.swrebellion.com/postt1965.html
  15. I used to play multiplayer about 2 years ago but drifted off to pursue other things. Now I'm back to play. My email is russell@xangelz.org I live in Melbourne, Australia, GMT +1000 I can only play on weekends due to work commitments. I tend to prefer longer drawn out games so those of you looking for a quick game, I'm not your man. I generally prefer playing the Rebel side but I am flexible. Just a warning, I fight tooth and nail, I use every asset I have to wage war against my opponent. If things seem quiet during the game, ie you haven't had any action against me, then that means I'm hatching a plan to wipe you out. I would consider my skill level at beginner because I haven't played that often. Drop me an e-mail if you want to play. I have an MSN account so I use MSN to play Rebellion. Haven't tried gamespy yet but if it's a resource hogger then I won't.
