    Tips

I have found it better to make a prison ship out of a Bulk Transport or Star Galleon and load it up with Infiltrators or Noghri Death Commandos and send it across the galaxy to a far away planet. If I understand the game correctly then a captured prisioner has a small chance to escape each turn. If they are on a prison planet and escape then they will report back about the planet and you will have to move it or prepare for an assult. You also have to spend resources and characters defending it and performing espionage on it. If you put them on a starship that takes 120 days to get where it's going then you can keep them prisoner longer because even if they sucsessfully make an escape because they can't actually escape until they reach the destination. You also don't have to worry about them betraying the prison planet, garrisoning the planet, defending the planet, and putting vital characters there when they could be elsewhere doing something productive for your infrastructure. If I'm incorrect in how the game determines a jail break then I apologize in advance, I'm only giving you my perspective on my observations. I still consider myself a newbie in this game but I've done a lot of research on it to learn it.
  2. The KDY-150 will help you out. But I've also figured out that having Sullustan Regiments on the system help out a lot. They are cheap to build, their attack sucks, but they are good defensively and great for detecting espionage. I also recommend you keep a defensive ship or small fleet in the sector for just the problem you mention. An Interdictor would be ideal, but if you don't have one then you can still chase off the ship. If he's always in flight he can't stick around a system and destroy your infrastructure.
  3. Wow, that really sucks the big one. I've been putting a LNR Laser Battery II on each system figuring it would fire upon any raiding enemy ship. Is this a bug? Are my crews sleeping when that Star Destroyer just appears in orbit around the planet? Perhaps the screech of my X-Wings flying up to meet them can't wake the slumbering crews? It just seems odd to me is all.
  4. The saved games are stored at the following location assuming you did a default install where you did not change the path. C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Rebellion\SaveGame The files are created in the following format: SAVEGAME.001 SAVEGAME.002 SAVEGAME.003 SAVEGAME.004 SAVEGAME.005 SAVEGAME.006 Which correspond to the 6 slots. I created another folder called MySaves and when I fill up the 6 slots I copy them to the second folder and append the day after the file name such as, SAVEGAME.001.DAY15 SAVEGAME.002.DAY30 This allows me to restore the Save Games if I choose to and tells me from which of the 6 clots they come from. You can simply copy the file back to the SaveGame folder and remove the added extension and they work as if they are the original save game files.
  5. I colonized an entire core sector and was just starting to build defenses there. I have a couple sullustan's, 2 gen core's, 1 laser, and 2 X-Wing squadron's in each system so far. The Empire sent a Star Destroyer into the sector and it's going around from system to system and attempting to engage my X-Wing squadrons. I withdrawl my X-Wings because 2 squadrons can not beat a Star Destroyer but the Star Destroyer never gets any damage. I would think that the Laser II on the planet that deals out 5000 in damage would be putting a hurting on this Star Destroyer but it seems to leave the system undamaged each time. Don't the system defenses engage an attacking Star Destroyer?
  6. I have the Prima Official Strategy Guide and it states that one mine plus one refinery equals fifty maintenance points. I had around 900 maintenance points and added five new refineries and mines and now I'm down to 700 maintenance points. I wanted to support a few extra ships in my fleet so I added the mines/refineries thinking that my maintenance points would go up but it seems they are going down. Does anyone have a clear perspective on maintenance points and how to increase them?
  7. That is the exact tip I was commenting on. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why you need or want to do that. I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw it and thanks for letting me know that I'm not going crazy, it's just bad advice.
  8. I sent an operative on a mission and he was injured but survived. How do you heal an injured operative?
  9. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on to help with this game. Two different web sites have mentioned a trick that if your out of energy you can still build fleets by setting the destination to nearby uninhabited planet. I have been building ships the whole time and have never noticed this need. I have maxed out the energy slots on all my shipyard planets but still build there. Does it take energy to build a ship? I purchased my copy of SWR from ebay and the manual is in French so I don't have the benefit of looking it up in the manual. I did buy the SWR Prima Strategy Guide which helped fill in the blanks about a lot of things but this book does not mention this enery requirment.
  10. I'm expanding in the core and the Empire gets two quick footholds on me in the Corellian Sector. I've got 6 systems. I have Luke picking off the characters on their first foothold and he's doing a good job of it. He's killed or captured three already. I send Page and Chewbacca to the second system to abduct Daala and they both get captured. So I take a look at what is on the system. The empire has 3 Stormtrooper Regiments, 2 GenCore Level 1, a KDY-150, and Daala was just made a General after the failed attempt. So I decide to take out Daala so I can get my characters back. I send Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Sarin Virgilo, Orrimaarko, and Ma'w'shiye on a Rescure mission of Chewbacca, and I send 14 infiltrators to abduct Daala. Luke, Han, Sarin, Orrimaarko, and Ma'w'shiye all get captured. 11 of the 14 infiltrators die and 3 escape to my nearest planet. How does this happen? Daala only has 123 Esp, 109 Combat, and 142 Leadership at the time of the confrontation. How in h3ll does she capture 7 characters just like that??? Maybe I'm missing something, it is my first game I've played, if so someone please enlighten me please!!!
  11. I purchased my copy of SWR off of e-bay. The manual on the CD is not in English but in a foreign language I will guess is French. I don't understand French. I've tried to pick up the game just from playing but it's difficult. A manual in English would be nice. I may be able to host the file on our website for our LAN Parties if I can get a copy. Our LAN Party site is http://www.lanohio.com I understand the manual is large. I'm willing to set up tempory ftp site to have the file dumped there. We could also do an exchange on WinMX or through IRC. I've already sent a message to our website admin for my clan about hosting the file on our lan party site. We've always helped out gamers in the past so I don't think this will be a problem. Thanks
