  1. OOC: Just from the initial looks of things, we'll need some Repulic commanders, a Republic diplomat, their Hefian opposite number, and some Imps willing to cause trouble to all jump in.
  2. OOC: We'll have the MC-80 be newly commissioned as the Alderaan, unless anybody objects. IC: Cadet Brandei felt the ship deccelerate, and looked over at his gun crew's commander questioningly. The commander answered by saying "son, we learned a long time ago not to just go charging into any old system, especially one this far away from home. Sensors show an Imperial Assault Shuttle in orbit, with gunboat escorts." "Oh. Should we power up, sir?" "Hardly. Alderaan's launching fighters, and we have some, uh, other assets. Firing up these babys for transports would be like hunting womp rats with a Destroyer. We're just holding station until we figure out what's going on".[/i]
  3. OOC: I'm actually planning something free-form; let's see where everybody takes it, then go from there. For now, let's assume the Rebublic task force is comprised of an MC-80 (somebody come up with the name of one that wasn't blown to shreds at Endor), the Assault frigates Revolution and Ardor, and a handful of Corvettes.
  4. OOC Thrawn: Actually, no, he's not; he's New Republic, but he is the son of the Imperial officer Brandei. Check out the first post in the Mission at Hefi thread. IC: Alex took the drink and looked over to where the barkeep had indicated the blue-skinned Imperial. Great, now what am I supposed to do? Nobody ever covered this... He didn't see any rank insignia on the man, so Alex gambled on the supposed neutrality of bars, threw the Imperial a nod, and hoped like hell he didn't recognize any family resemblance as he moved down to take the offered seat. Maybe I can get some sort of intelligence report outta this. Are we supposed to do things like that? Hell...
  5. I don't mind if it's public; my main one is uncleweirdbeard@cox.net. Try sending to both that and jag71d@yahoo.
  6. I agree, it should. It didn't. *continues to jack with it*
  7. Alex walked in, keeping his eyes and his course firmly fixed on the bar. He was still in a lousy mood over his posting, and he planned to drink hiself into a better mood. Who knew; he might even drink himself social, though he rather doubted it. As he sat down, he noticed the blue-skinned Imperial officer, and searched his memory. His father had mentioned something about a "cold, brass-bound, blue-hided genius", but when Alex has pressed for detail, his father had clammed up and refused to speak any further.
  8. Cadet Alex Brandei looked over his new station on board the Republic Assault Frigate Revolution and sighed. He'd been assigned to a turbolaser crew. NOBODY noticed you on a turbolaser crew. Brandei had hoped things might be different; he'd heard the the New Republic heirarchy was less concerned than the Empire had been with family history and political connections. Evidently not; here he was, assigned to a station that, if he turned out to be an Imperial spy or sabateur, couldn't possibly harm the ship more than the loss of one of its many turbolaser batteries. For Alex's father was Captain Brandei of the Imperial Navy, presumably still in service somewhere (nobody'd heard from him for years). There had never been any doubt of Alex's furture plans while growing up; his family had a long and distinguished history of military service. He'd grown up hearing his father's stories of fleet service with the Empire, and Alex had never expected anything other than a life spent keeping the peace, enforcing order, and spreading the Empire's civilizing influence to every corner of the galaxy. At least, not until Alderaan. When the Emperor had allowed one of his Grand Moffs to destroy a heavily-populated system (not even making the decision himself!), Alex began to seriously question his future service. Then, the Emperor had solved the dilemma by getting himself killed at Endor. Alex had always planned to serve the galactic government, and the New Republic was the only government around; he was under no illusions as to the eventual defeat of the various Imperial holdout factions still operating. He'd simply hoped that no one would notice his name. Evidently that had been asking too much. He sighed again. There was no career to be had from a gunner's station.
  9. Setting: New Republic (6 months prior to Heir to the Empire) Scenario: The New Republic has sent a small task force of ships on a diplomatic mission to the unaligned Hefi system. In addition to Hefi's moderatly-productive pure ore output, the system would be an important "keystone" system on the Outer Rim, giving the Republic a remote base for operations against holdout Imperial factions. However, the Empire has already has its eye on the Hefi system; Republic advance scouts send back word of Imperial ship sightings in the area. Therefore, the Republic has detailed a small force of cpaital ships and starfighters to the diplomatic mission, with orders to secure the system, protect the diplomats, and prosecute-to-kill any Imperial resistance.
  10. Jahled, tell me where you sent it, because I haven't gotten anything from you.
  11. That's cool. Lemme know if I can be of any help in that department.
  12. Ok, just played around in ResHack, and yeah, you can't change the background music. The movies, however, you can; what's the plan (if any) with those?
  13. Getting an orchestra to play it IS tough...unless you already do composition and have one of the high-end orchestral soundfonts. I dropped a grand on the gigafont Orchestral Strings from Sonic Implants; they used the Boston Pops to get good (I mean REALLY good) samples. So, it could be done without resorting to a GM MIDI bank. The question is if it's something that can be added or not.
  14. Ok, trying to catch up: Which scenarios are still "live"? And, how effective is it, if I have a new scenario in mind, to just start it and have folks jump in?
  15. I haven't dug into Res Hacker to find out, but can the in-game music be changed, and if so, has anyone put any thought/work into that? I have two thoughts on that, if it's possible without the source code: Option #1: Replace with different John Williams cuts, to give everything a fresh feel. I have the full set of everything he did for Lucas, so finding apropriate cuts and getting them mixed down into a .wav wouldn't be hard at all. Option #2: Compose something original. That's nowhere near as difficult as it sounds; the loops the game uses aren't long at all, and writing something Williams-esque, but still unique to the project, wouldn't be at all tough.
  16. Sorry to double: my wife would also be happy to supply some feminine strains to the mix; she's been listening to me play the game long enough; she'd be tickled to throw her own voice in there.
  17. I'm more than willing to do whatever voicesets still need done. Moreover, I can do any sound engineering we want done; I do composition and sound design, so I'm already pretty well set up to handle it. Plus, I can throw in on the whatever else needs done still; I can handle the graphics and dll mods.
  18. Sorry; OOC, obviously.
  19. Ditto that; I'd love to jump in wherever needed or wanted, but it'll take me awhile to read through everything, and a quick breakdown would be sweet.
  20. So, in other words, we'll all just use this thread to jack up our post count?
  21. Ok, done; group created on MSN, pic uploaded, URL to said pic found. Now, when editing my profile here, it keeps "bouncing back" to the profile page, without making any of the changes (like, adding my avatar!). Suggestions?
  22. Ok, I just have to ask, because I'm not finding any good general discussion of it: Just what is the plan on the Reloaded TC? What are the goals so far as style, in-game time period, etc? Can somebody give me a quick "project overview"?
