  1. True, very true. I've found out that by jumping the Mon Remonda to about 14 or so klicks from the target, and by intelligently moving it around, it can pack some serious punches. Say like taking out two ISD-IIs, and a few ISD-Is before having to retreat to repair. It's one nice cruiser, but the admiral using it needs to know what its strengths are and how to utilize them well.
  2. Quite so, I play against my friend almost as much as I play against the AI. As long as we dont build too many fighters, the game is fine.
  3. I've noticed that if you don't explore the areas of space around you, the AI tends to build more stuff. Even on Expert, if I send a ferret or probe to the middle of the map, the AI's will build 5 squadrons of fighters and just sit there. If I leave them alone, they'll build up stuff all the way to cruisers.
  4. That is true, they have a tendency to try to equal the number of Golan Platforms around Imperial Center! On Expert, with 5 Rebel AIs, the game becomes much more challenging if you set the game to have RU injections to help the AI along. Eventually they will build cruisers such as Mon Remonda. However, this version of the Mon Remonda is different, its shields are invincible, even my Lusankya didn't faze its shields. The only reason it died is that currently, some damage ignores shielding and hits the ship itself. While not a very good human controlled ship, its ability to avoid damage allows it to slowly pick away at destroyers with impunity as the destroyers don't carry shield ignoring weaponry unlike their larger cousins.
  5. How far away is the AI compared to you? Like for instance on the typical six player map consisting of a circle of asteroids and gas clouds. I've noticed that the AI CPU1 has a tendency to attack me on pretty much all settings with large fleets of fighters and small frigates, both being very easy prey for my cruisers (with the exception of Titans, which miss 90% of the time, and MC-80cs, which are content on unleasing almost nothing but ion cannons on the enemy). At the same time, all of the other four cpus are intent on build a large, laggy force of fighters, corvettes, and small frigates and sending them to move back and forth between the center of the map and their home bases. What makes it even more confusing is that on my friend's computer, the AI builds Tyrant missile cruisers that hit themselves and large amounts of Enforcers, but rarely anything in the destroyer sized range.
  6. I was testing it out against a Fighter Factory. I've attempted firing from directly under it and there, it fires a ton of ion cannons, but very sporadic turbolaser fire. The other angles I've tried are on the same level as the factory, heading towards it, there, both ion cannons and turbolasers rarely fire. In response to the second part of the post, I've always thought the Mon Remonda was a pretty good cruiser, in the novel Iron Fist, it was able to provide a challenge to Iron Fist as well as later on in Solo Command. Even given that it isn't very well equipped, it IS a cruiser and should do more damage than a mere destroyer that costs less than a third of its price. I suspect that its something to do with the cruisers in 0.30, the Titan cruiser also does less damage than the ISD IIs around it. Edit: After hyperspacing the Mon Remonda around, I noticed that it would fire much more turbos when it is really far away than if it were to be closer. At this distance, frigates are not visible on screen, but show up as red diamonds instead. Does distance matter in determining which guns will fire?
  7. Does anyone know what the optimal firing arc for the Mon Remonda is? It seems to fire ion cannons like no one's business, but very rarely does it ever use its turbolasers. I'm looking at my screen right now on my other computer and my RSDs are shooting off more turbolasers than either of my MC-80cs. Oddly enough, the RSD is a Medium destroyer and the MC-80c is a Heavy Cruiser, yet does less damage.
  8. about the titan missing a lot, i was playing my friend empire vs. empire to test the effectiveness of the ships and he was able to kill a titan using nothing but 3 Victory Is, sending them one after another. Apparently, the titan does not seem to be able to hit the Victory I or something since the turbolasers pass through the ships, doing little or no damage. Only the missiles (torps?) from the titan were able to really do damage to the Victories.
  9. I'm new to the forums, but I was wondering if the Bulwark that is going to be back in the game going to be the old .29 version (looks like a collection of containers) or the one from SW:Rebellion as there seems to be a model for a Bulwark Cruiser in the WIP image pages.
