  1. Hello everyone. Just wanted to share some things ive found with the latest version. The new mod is great. I like it a lot. First of all, as for the price hikes, they definately help the Alliance, and were needed. It is a tremendous investment just for an ISDI now, which it should be. Ive found myself using fighters and corvettes a lot more now until i get enough income to afford one of my lovely SSDs, which before, I really didnt need to do. Gives me a lot more challenge now. One thing I dont agree with is the time it takes now to build capital ships. The build time was right before I think, but not the price. Now the price is right, and the build time is wrong. It shouldnt take 15 minutes to build an SSD. By then, I become somewhat bored waiting on my ships to pop out of thier shipyards. It took me about 5 minutes to build an ISD3, and an ISDI was about 4 minutes. A piddly Allegience is about 10 minutes I think. Lot of good things and bad things happened with the last patch. Most of which I like. I have some cheeper cruisers to play with, and they look cool and are very good against fighters. Also liked the world devastater unit. Kinda neato. The torpedo sphere is bugged though. When it launches its torpedoes, the game crashes every time. The research tech tree is better now in ways now also, but i dont like the time it takes to research everything. To just start building an Execeter, i have to play for about an hour so I been turning research off. Another thing I like is the expanded unit descriptions... what I dont like about them is that they are so long now, they are cut off before it tells what the ship is good at, which on a lot of ships, i need the information. Oh, and the hyperspacing is glitchy now. Often times i cant get my ships to hyperspace.... like they dont want to or something. Had plenty of resources to do it.... hmm. Thats all for my 2 cents. As far as the build and research times, so as not to ruin it for people who really enjoy it, maybe would it be possible to make a build/research time multiplyer? In multiplayer I like it how it is, but against the computer, there are just times i want a fast forward button. All the same, still the most wonderful mod ive ever seen, and it does keep getting better. Wonderful job to everyone involved in its creation. Lina
  2. Thats a very cool story Krytos. Very well done. Sorry gotta keep this short, but me busy, hehe.
  3. Still testing various conditions in the game. Im finding the AI to be sporadin in intellect. Couple factors im noticing is the resourcing. If i disable resourcing (which also reduces lag.... some), the computer has a much more stable income and will build ships intelligently and attack me in force when they are ready to... not just throwing random units at me which i quickly destroy with the best ships for the job. With resourcing on and injections off, the computer is seemingly very frantic trying to get resources that im not gonna let them have.... cause im greedy and want it all. This destroys thier offensive capability because they are constantly forming small strike groups that are ineffective in an effort to claim territory. Still experimenting with this aspect by trying new combinations of unit caps and whatnot. So far, this theory has been holding true in my games. Oh, and no offense taken hon. Im imperial to the core. God help me but i love Vader... i wanna be his girl for life! Hes soooo cool. Besides... the empire has the biggest ships. And let me tell ya hon.... im a girl that really appreciates that sized DOES matter
  4. I do have some other funny stories to tell, but alas, im becoming bored with this anoying AI. Its almost like its sleeping. Today i played without resource injections and research on with 2 opponents (more than that and just the resourcer units begin to lag me). One opponent midgame didnt even build anything. And are modular battleships or whatever they are worth anything? Its the rebel version of a cruiser, and my ISD soloed it. Ive beaten the game in so many ways and the computer on the hardest level doesnt really try to challenge me. It rolls over and waits for me to spank its ass..... which does turn me on but thats beside the point. Computer ive found is only really challenging mid to late game with resource injections cause when im fighting it for resources, it always loses. And it doesnt even try to find other resource fields. It wants mine and thats all there is to it. Uh uh... im not givin you mine. Find your own damn you! Liena
  5. Hello everyone. Stories stories stories.... I got a few. I take this stuff too seriously I think, but hey, its so much fun! I was the Empire... dealing death upon the pesky rebels on expert mode. With 2 additional random opponents, it turns out that 2 other fleets of Empirials were Rebel sympathisers! Curse them.... the emperor would not stand for this! I built my facilities and on this occasion the research was off so it was "meant" to be a quick excursion. I turned my attention to the first Imperial traitor. My Execetor rolled off the production line and was immediately dispatched to his base while i rolled off ISD3s for base defence purposes and built up some defender ties as well. Once in the enemies base with the Execetor, I had about 8 ISD 1 and 2s to take out. Not really a problem. Oh, when using the execetor to take out an opposing base, if your level to the enemy, have the Execetor lower elevation. Will tilt its nose way down to let all the guns do thier lovely work. First Imperial traitor lasted a total of 1 minute and was dispatched 8 minutes 17 seconds. They put a ding in my armor though... Execetor was down to 85%. Now..... about those rebel dogs.... Hyperspacing the Execetor directly underneath the rebel shipyards was very rewarding as again, all guns were able to train. The rebels to my surprise had a very nice sized fleet! Took my Execetor down to 60%! Well done you scurvious dogs..... to bad all thier cruisers couldnt take the punishment they seemed to be able to deal. I stopped targeting base facilities in hopes they would produce more cruisers cause i was having a total blast. One by one cruisers fell. But... after 2 minutes of battle, i crew bored watching them trying desperately to live, so I put them out of thier misery. Rebels defeated 13 minutes into the game. I havent won yet.... oh yes, im forgetting the other Imperial squad that is Rebel Sympathisers. "Ano katagata jishin wa shi motte kuru!" I hyperspaced the deadly ship to the Imperial base..... and then, I had my shutter.... the computer really DOES build SSDs.... A fresh new Vengeance appeared. My Execetor at 60% health going up against a Vengeance and a handful of ISDs.... why not? If the Execetor is destroyed, its only the loss of life of a couple million hands. There will be more children born in the Empire and i have enough money for another Execetor already. The emperor will not be bothered with trvialities like casualties, so neither shall I! The battle between the Execetor and Vengeance was hard fought. My fleet of ISD3s watched from a distance and cheered at this titanic battle. The Execetor targeted ISDs first as they were easier to destroy and eliminated some damage it was sustaining. Also, it was a pretty little display of fireworks. In the end, the Execetor destroyed the Vengeance only to be taken out moments later by light fighter fire.... oh the humility. With build limit set on 1 SSD at a time, i hadnt started construction of my second until now. I began production and started building an entire squad of frigates as well as corettes just in case of a counterstrike..... but the counterstrike never came.... and i dwindled my resources to the point that the Execetor was slowly being produced as i aquired resources. Then the computer finished it's first Execetor and it lumbered toward my base. As my ISD3s cringed and drank thier final drinks and prepared for a suicide charge, my second Execetor was completed and my fleet rejoiced. It lumbered to meet the incoming giant and as it was taking tremendous damage, it was elevated too high with its bow facing the enemies broadside. Wasnt looking good. As i meneuvered the behemoth to use her guns I sent out my ISD3s to add damage, for my titan was losing. The enemy Execetor would train a few guns on them just long enough to destroy them but it was working. They were evening out the damage between the 2 ships. Finally, the sympathisers SSD exploded in a very satisfying way that the emperor would be pleased at. I hyperspaced the Execetor under the enemy base at 10% health and watched it blow stuff up until it died. Then my fleet of ISDs met the dogs considerable number of ISDs in battle... they overcame my force and I was forced to withdraw. My 3rd Execetor rolled off the assembly line and I jumped it underneath the base of the enemy.... then I went afk to go potty and when i returned, i got to see the flashing lights of a cleansed deficient imperial unit. Defeated 1 hout 23 minutes. Was a lot of fun. hehe. Oh, anyone know when i get a Death Star? Cause, I need more power. LOL. Lina
  6. I only play on expert... and it can give ya a good game. I went up against 5 opponents and they send a couple Execetors and Vengeance class ships at me. They seem to prefer the Vengeance. Probly cause its cheaper.
  7. Hi hi. Firstly, Id just like to thank everyone who tried to help me getting this running cause its like..... uber coolioiscious. I just gave it a good test drive today and I love the ship models. Ive always been fond of naval battles and SW is one of my favorite naval universes. My brother came over today and we played it... all day and we came to many of the same conclusions. A) Lag needs addressed. I know that its being worked on, but im just wanting to reiterate... i had 7 ISDs and them firing was causeing immense lag, and i have 1.5 gig of DDR ram, and a GF 4 vid card. B) It would be nice to be able to zoom in a bit more because the fighter craft are pretty... The models are wasted if ya can only get a dim glimpse of them when ya turn the camera angle just right. Otherwise they are just dots. C) There is a bug inside the research screen. I would be researching something, and if the game didnt like what i was researching, it wouldnt research it till it was good and ready. This was very anoying. I ended up turning research and resourcing off and made injections of 5k RUs every 10 seconds. It sped the game up a lot. Those are my only complaints right now. I love this mod to pieces. Everything is simply wonderful and its all eye candy for a mad power hungry lass as myself. Oh, and btw.... the little blisters above the bridge... I thought they were shield generators also. And i thought they only covered the bridge, not the whole ship. Cause when i saw rebel fighters shooting the ISDs, i saw hull damage, not shield impacts in the movies. Lets face it, an ISD isnt a Galaxy class starship, hehe. Oh, btw, i would LOVE to see more hull damage from laser fire. Im impressed with the hull damage as is cause the lighting is superb, but the damage disappears about 15 seconds later. Keep those sizzling chunks of steel there till its repaired, hehe. Someone said something about a Babylon 5 mod.... can anyone tell me where I could find that? Is it as wonderful as this mod? If so, could someone give me a web address? The 4 universes i love most in the space combat genre are Robotech, SW, Babylon 5, and Star Trek: TNG. Id love to see more mods like this. The attention to detail is just so wonderful... words cant express my love for this mod.... I just simply love it! Lina
  8. Yes, i think i did all that, but only have one shortcut.... the one i made. I have no clue as to the other shortcut ive heard about. I think im so stupid as to be hopeless. Thanks everyone for trying to get this running for me. I probly screwed up something simple that everyone is overlooking because its so simple. I wish i were a bit smarter.... hopefully when the mod is finished and past beta it will be idiotproof and install everything where it needs to be itself. Thats actually about the limit of my intellect is to click links. Putting files where they need to be isn't my forte though i think i did that right this time. But there are thousands of things i could have done wrong im sure... and one thing I know is, if theres a way to screw something up, I will find it. Have fun with the mod everyone, it sounds great. I hope to play it someday. Lina
  9. I would think that the Execetor class would be most closely put in the DBB classification. SW has nothing to do with modern navies really, because SDs are not destroyer class... they are star destroyers. Destroyers sought submarines and transports to sink or to defend convoys. As said above, Star Destroyers are capable of destroying planetary systems. But if you compare it to the WWII navies, the ISDs would be comparable to the Bismark class probly... at about 37k tons if i remember right. The Execetor would be comparable to the Yamato class DBB at 87k tons. The Yamato weighed more than the Empire State Building. I s'pose the empire decided they had enough resources that they didnt need to build smaller support craft save for fighters seeing how space doesnt limit speed due to mass. So..... if ya have enough resources to build them, why build the smaller, faster, less armored craft? Just erase all the smaller classes, make a couple major classes and give them scary names with reference to genocide if ya mess with the empire, and go with that. This makes sense to me. Oh, to add to WWII ship classes, Battlecruisers can be armed with anything a BB has. I believe the best armament on a WW2 battlecruiser was 14" guns though. Most were 12.5". The heaviest guns were of a BB were on the Iowa class BBs which were 16" and were outdone only by the DBB of the Yamato classes 18". Germany had a larger one planned that never came out that had 20 20" guns that was to weigh in at over 100k tons. The only difference between a BB and BC is really armor. BCs typically had 6-8" steel side hulls and BBs had around 12". The hood actually outweighed some WWI BBs, so when distinguishing between BB and BC, you really have to look at the hull plating. In every other ship class, ya look at the weight, and in this case, its typically true too with only a few exceptions, but you can always tell by the armor plate. But honestly, no matter what you call it, it does what it does. I'm positive that if a president really wanted to call the next BB made (which will never happen) a Cole class destroyer, it could be done. Wouldnt make sense, but if the person who sets the designation is stupid enough, anything can happen. Hehe. Well, good day to yall and everyone who posted had valid points and i had fun reading them. Sorry for my mindless babbling, just hopin something i said helps. See ya later. Lina
  10. Doesnt give me that option. Just the normal options. On the bright side, i noticed that my instal of 1.1 worked though. I made the shortcut as you described in your last post and tried it. It will launch HW2, but doesnt give me any more options.
  11. Hiya, i tried changing C:\Documents and Settings\dig\Desktop\WARLORDSV0.29 to "C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -mod HW2SW_WARLORDS_BETA_VO.29_TEST.BIG -luatrace....... and i must admit i got farther with it this time.... the game booted up with the link i made, but there is still no Star Wars stuff. I feal so stupid.... probly something simple and im just messin it all up. Im so sorry to bother ya with this cause i know ya got better things to do, but i appreciate so much the help your trying to give me. Thankfully yours, Lina
  12. Hi, Ive downloaded the mod for SW ships on Homeworld 2 which is one of my favorite games. The concept is really really cool and i want to play it, but I am terribly computer illiterate. I got the mod on my desktop and i clicked install, and i think it did, but i cant figure out how to activate it cause homeworld doesnt have an option to turn the mod on that i can find. I even right clicked the SW patch thing and tried to run it from there. Can someone please tell me what im doing wrong? Im tired of Adobe Acrobat saying it doesnt recognize the program and wont let me use it. I need help. Lina
