  1. For a gaming company we could possibly talk to Golem Labs. They are a small company still on their second game, but their first game (Superpower or Global Power for you Europeans) was an excellent demonstration of their ability. Plus you can train their AI to be a very excellent player. Superpower was basically a game where you pick one of the countries in the world and try to take over the world with it (you can do other stuff like sign treaties, but why bother? Just kill kill kill!). So they clearly have an interest in indepth strategy games. Also they fully support their dedicated modding community. While they haven't released their source code yet, they will look over code for mods and tweak it as a favor. Finally they are a small company looking for new games so they might actively support our efforts if they decide they like the project. Finally I'd like to point out stuff like Alpha Centauri, Civ, etc have all done well, but only after a lot of money was sunk into production. Looking Rebellion you can see it was crafted with love but limited resources. I feel that Rebellion 2, espcially a highly modular game, would do well. Then other non Star Wars fan could buy the game and mod it what they wanted it to be. Bablyon 5 Mods, Star Trek Mods, Star Gate Mods, pretty much any type of space based empire building game could easily be created off the engine.
  2. What if we prove that there is a market for the game and therefore them making it means more $$ for LucasArts?
  3. Hey this may sound stupid and may have been brought up before, but I'll say it anyways. Why not beg Lucas Arts for a Rebellion 2? I mean were not gonna get the source code for Rebellion anytime soon, so why not try to get a better version of the game with a modular design (so we can make the edits we can) and some even cooler graphics. Plus they could add in stuff like 3D ground combat (I'm thinking Imperium Galatica 2 style or what was that game where you got to do Star Wars ground comba). Also with the advances in computer power we wouldn't be limited to set sizes for anything if Lucas Arts did it right. I could finally play the Rebellion with Z-95s, Y-Wings, X-Wings, A-Wings, B-Wings, E-Wings and K-Wings all at once! Finally we could get true multiplayer, how about a game with Hapes, CSA, New Republic, Empire, Chiss and Vong all at once? Not to mention general engine cleanups and the like. If anyone else is interested let me know. I'm sure Lucas Arts is busy writing games for Episode III right now, but after that they should have some spare time on their hands. If we can prove to them there is a market for it...
  4. Whenever I play as the Empire I always seem to end up facing fleets of Escort Carriers, Bulk Cruisers and Corellian Corvettes, no matter that I mod in for the Rebels. Either the AI doesn't like my MC-90 Cruisers (which are realistically priced and everything) or I'm doing too good of a job of destroying the Rebels resources and preventing them from being able to build big ships. I've let Rebellion run overnight (300 in game days or so went by before a battle game up, and stopped the game) and I'm still not seeing heavies. My next step is to take over Yavin 4, set it up with construction yards and then pull off so the system reverts to its Rebel leaning and see if that will jump start the AI.
  5. Hi, Some friends and I are trying to create a LAN tourney for Rebellion. First off we have someone who wants to play as the Vong (everyone else is looking forward to crushing the Vong). Does anyone have Matalok models or photos (or anything that even looks kinda Vongish) lying around? We'd like to give him a few more options than Worldship and Coralskips. Secondly I'm charge of the Imperial Mods and I've never done a total overhaul before. I was wondering if anyone could offer suggestions for what I've done so far. Oh yeah and we don't have a set time period really, resources were divided to balance the game (like the Empire gets the Noghri, Alliance gets more Jedi). Imperial Heavy Ships: Dreadnaught Slot: Price reduced since Thrawn netted 192 of the things. Galleon: Evil ugly ship, useless ship, deserves to die. Y4 Raptor Transport loaded. Assault Transport: Almost as bad as the Galleon. Skipray Blastboat loaded. Star Galleon: Firespray Class Picket Ship Loaded. Imperial Escort Carrier: Belarus Cruiser loaded. The Strike Cruiser's big brother. Carrack: Weapons balanced, it now has fewer Laser Cannons and more Ion Cannons and a few turbolasers. Lancer: Untounched Victory I. More turbolasers added to reflect the 80 Concussion Missile Launchers it is supposed to have. Imperial I: Shields adjusted. Interdictor: Can carry 1 Squadron of Starfighters Victory II: A Sar Destroyer with no troops, what gives? Can now carry 2 regiments Strike: Weapons reduced to make room for another starfighter squadron and a troop regiment. Imperial II: Shields upped. Super: Shields upped. Death Star: No superweapons, replaced with the Imperial Battle Cruiser (comes in between ISD II and SSD in firepower) Troops: Fleet Regiments: Adjusted to be weaker stormtroopers suited for defending targets of less importance. Army Regiments: AT-ATs with poor assault ratings? Now the primary assault regiment of the Imperials. Storm Troopers: Gotta love them. War Droids: Too ugly. Replaced by Imperial Gaurds Dark Troopers: Still there. Characters: The Fleet: Jerjerrod: Warlord Zsinj Ozzel: Grand Admiral Zaarin Piett: Captain Ardiff Needa: Admiral Rogriss Pellaeon: still around (also a decent diplomat) Thrawn: Soon to command a SSD near you. Daala: Token woman Pter Thanas: intact Flight Officers: Griff: Soontir Fel Klev: Turr Phennir Screed: Colonel Roat Labansat: Erisi Dlarit The Army: Veers: Still around Covell: Still Alive Bane Nothos: General Kardue'sai'Malloc (Labria) Villar: General Melvar Diplomats: Grammel: Isard Zuggs: Prince Xizor Shenir Rix: Moff Disra Noval Gariant: Thracken Sal-Solo Sith / Sepcial Force Characters: Brandei: High Lord Treymane Dorja: Rukh Bin Essada: Boba Fett Niles Ferrier: Major Grodin Tierce (the real one, not the crazy clone) Orlok: Joruus C'Boath Bevel Lemelisk: Guri Garindan: Gara Pethol (need to double check her name Menndo: Exar Kun Special Force Units: Stormtrooper Elites replace Imperial Commandos
