  1. Actually I lived my whole life in southeast WI. And I still maintain that it's a "bubbler" despite efforts by all my friends down here to get me to change. Yup, that game and many others. My friends were (are) especially fond of Final Fantasy. -Thumper
  2. Yup, you got another Wisconsinite here (a fact I'm rather proud of ). I love snow, hate hot days, love the countryside, and I still maintain that it's a "bubbler" despite efforts by all of my friends down here to get me to change. True, true. My bad. I think she may have been seduced by the WoW side of the Force. (*but waves to BBL, just in case*) -Thumper
  3. *raises hand* Here, though I'm mainly a lurker and too much of a tomboy. And after spending my whole life in the beautiful small hills of Wisconsin, the Florida peninsula is waaaay too flat for my tastes. I have to go onto the causeway bridges to get an altitude fix. But at least there's a lot of trees and water to break up the landscape. -Thumper
  4. I think between http://www.comics.com and http://www.ucomics.com , you might be able to find most of the more well-known comic strips. -Thumper
  5. "Get Fuzzy" is awesome. (And I would like to mention that Satchel is the dog and Bucky is the cat, not the other way around. ) The strip takes place in Boston, IIRC. I have a few Get Fuzzy strips hanging up at work--the top front half of my filing cabinet is covered with various comics. "FoxTrot" is my absolute favorite comic strip, though, and makes up the majority of the displayed ones at work. -Thumper
  6. DarthTofu, I live in Titusville. I go down to Merritt Island fairly often. From the Milwaukee, Wisconsin (USA), area originally. Love it up there. Back to lurking... -Thumper
  7. I read the books in preparation for seeing the movie and I got instantly hooked. As for the movie, I saw it three times within the first two weeks it was out here, so yeah, I really liked it. The movie had some parts that were not in the book (I want that gun!! ). There were some parts in the book that could have been explained better in the movie (like the whole towel thing), but for the most part I think they did a good job for people who hadn't read the books. I'm basing a lot of that on my dad, since he hadn't read the books and I took him to see it, and he was able to follow it and enjoyed it. I can't imagine how many little Easter eggs there are in that movie, and I really hope the DVD comes with a director's commentary. Things like hearing the horses neighing in the background when Arthur was talking to the descendant of Genghis Khan--it's explained in the books, but in the movie that's the only hint you get of it. In the US at least, there was an extra little scene about halfway through the end credits. And now I'm going to have the opening credits song in my head for the rest of the day. -Thumper
  8. I'll be there as well. Despite the horribly long lines, Celebration 2 was a blast. They said they're trying to fix that this time, so we'll see. -Thumper
  9. Count me as one of the weirdos who actually liked the old Battlestar Galactica. I thought their fighters (Vipers) were pretty neat, and Starbuck was just cool. Now Galactica 1980...that's a completely different story. -Thumper
  10. Scientists think Titan may be like an infant Earth because of its atmosphere and what they believe the atmosphere is doing. There are supposedly a lot of chemical reactions taking place in it, powered by sunlight, and the thinking is that these same types of chemical reactions are what eventually led to life on Earth. -Thumper
  11. Serenity is based on the (now cancelled but available on DVD ) sci-fi TV show Firefly. If the first theatrical movie does well, there are potentially a couple more follow-ons. Between this and Ep III (which I'm hoping I'll like better than Ep II), I figure I'll be living at the theater this year. -Thumper
  12. It got bumped back from April to September 30 (in the USA), but the Firefly movie Serenity is due out this year! *happy* Hitchhiker's Guide should be interesting. I'll have to go see that one, too. -Thumper
  13. Hey, GAT, can you send some of that snow down this way? You can keep the cold temperatures, but I want the snow. *misses snow* A "cold" front went through today so it was only about 8 deg C here in Florida, but it's supposed to warm back up with a high of around 20 C tomorrow. It's supposed to rain all weekend, too, but I won't care because by that time I'll be back home up by the Great Lakes. Most of the Christmas shopping is done. I've been so far behind this year. Happy holidays, everyone. -Thumper
  14. Yup, just little two-seater and four-seater Cessnas, though. Just remember--landings are nothing more than controlled, midair collisions with a planet. True, though it's gotten better in the last few months. I've gotten to be such a wimp and I don't venture far anymore, so I need some refresher lessons to get some confidence back. But eventually...eventually...aerobatic lessons. Glad to be of help. If it helps, I'm one of only two people from WI who do not like the Packers (my mom is the second). (NFC = National Football Conference [American Football]) -Thumper
  15. Just a guess, but i think "India" might have been a typo for "Indeed" in that post. From Illinois, right? Dratted insomnia...*grumble* Name: Katie Age: 25 Location: Florida, USA (but a Wisconsinite at heart) Occupation: Logistics Engineer Non SW interests: Writing, RPG's, flying, horseback riding, and frightening my cat with my violin -Thumper
