  1. One thing few people hear realize is that the entire battle would have been fought within the Gravity well of Both the Death Star and Endor. This would Impair the manueverability fo the capital ships, especially the Imperials. Perhaps they would hvae done better if they'd deployed some of the Victory Class ships. The Mon Calamari Vessels are more manuevarble and have redundent systems that would enable them to withstand the concentrated fire of their opposition for awhile. Still the Mon Calamari loss two cruisers in the battle and Its quite possible they lost more but didn't show them. The Empire made a dramatic mistake with starfighters, if you remember that the kill loss ratio for the rebellion was four Ties to every rebel ship, when their committed to anti starfighter roll. The Mon Calamari Cruiser got among the imperial formation which was nothing more then a venerable wall in space. They'd be able to press their manueverability advantage over the imperials. Still it would have been a very close call for either side to emerge victorious.
  2. I just noticed this is the second battle for Charmath topic, kind of ironic all these fights are over pointless Charmath. I forgot that the reason I launched the assault at Charmath was they captured and wounded Mara Jade. Stupid Imperials, I'll get back at them. Making it so starfighters have to be built indivicually has led to something thats rather obvious in the Star Wars Universe: The Rebels are always short on starfighters. It takes the rebels around 96 days to build a squadron, but the Imperial can build a full wing of ties in that time. On another note I launched a game as the Rebels yesterday and on day 15 Yavin was hit by 30 Imperial Capital Ships.
  3. I've owned Rebellion for several years now and I've created a mod for myself, thanks to RebEd. I've changed all the shields, recharge, hull, damage control, and sublight ratings to match up with those from XWA alliance. I also made it so that instead of building squadrons of fighters you build individual fighters so a Star Destroyer now carries 72, etc. The result has been interesting. On to the story. I was playing a drawn out campaign against the AI and I'd finally thought I could gain the upper hand. The Imperials had launched a desperate assault on me since the start of the game and I'd barely been able to hold them back but now I had an ace up my sleeve. I'd built a sector fleet consisting of one Mon Calamari Cruiser, two Nebulon B Frigates, four dreadnaughts, twelve corvettes, and of course a Quasar fire Class Carrier. I launched this force at Charmath. what I'd belived to be the source of a series of raids and intelligence had shown a relatively meager force there. I was wrong. My force Jumps out and finds not a small fleet but an Imperial Armada, two Excort Carriers, Six Victory Star Destroyers, and a whole load of support ships. Was I unnerved, you bet. The Fleet I had was outnumber almost three to one. But, I thought maybe I'd be able to kick them out considering I had such a huge force of rebel starighters in my hangers, so I decided to meet the Imperials head on. The Battle was intense, I sent my X-wings after the enemy starfighters and the Y-wings after the capital ships. Within less then sixty seconds I'd lost my Mon Calamari Cruiser. Then to my astonishment not one but two vict stars bought the farm, exploding from the concentrated barrage from my dreadnaughts and the Y-wings. I thought, wow maybe I can win this, so I launched another series of strikes as the X-wings kept fighting the enemies fighters. The enemy delivered a series of broadsides and I watched my all but one of my dreadnaughts and my Nebulons become incondesent gas floating in space. But I gave just as bad As I hot, utterly destroying two more victory star destroyers and damaging a third. With my capital ships all but eliminated I decided then It was time to cut my losses so I cut and ran. Charmath was left in Imperial hands, but I think they won't be launching many more attacks since I reduced four of those star destroyers into nothing more then molten metal. Take that Imperial Scum!
