Thannks Thumper! I thought I would give y'all a quick update. TF is doing great. He is now in week 5 of training and about to be upper class. That means he will now actually have tv and movie privledges, so yes the new release of Star Wars is already in the mail to him . We will not be able to see him untill November, but that is only 46 days away, (the day the kids and I will get there). He will graduate on the 10th of November and then it looks like we will be on our way to Panama City, FL. I can deal with living on the beach . I am in the process of moving. We should be closing on our house next week so I will be staying with my folks untill November. I get to talk to TF once a day so that is a saving grace. Anyhow I hope everyone is doing well. We would love to hear from you. If anyone has anything to pass on to TF let me know, I can print it out and include it in his next letter. Take care, BBL -
Thank you I was trying to remember that quote. I actually read it in a bathroom once and loved it. But I could not remember it.

While I agree with you, I still think for those of us who hav e problems saving money (ahem ) it is a goo dway to have money you don't figure infor things liek vacations and such .

Ah how the amoutn of the dollar fluctuates. I think here, for a shepa car you are looking at ~$10,000. We are talking about getting a Nissan or Toyota 4 door small size truck that will probably run $26,000. Dont' know when the money will ever be there for that, but... As for the money question... This is one I love. TF and I have had this question many times as we have always been on a really tight budget (happens when you get married in college then have kids right away) and then from somewhere comes some extra money. The responsible thing to do was always try to put it in the bank or pay off bills. The reality of it was that after being so broke for so long we had all these needs everything from buying new sheets to new sock and undies. I mean just things we kept waiting on. Normally we would go down to the local Wal-mart or Target and spend it all ont hose things that we had been waiting for. Then we would do something a little more irresponsible with a small protion of it, go opt for a big expensive dinner, buy a new game, etc. Somethign like that. Now if today someone came in and handed me $1000 well let's see. I would have to be responsible we are looking at a serious pay decrease the first few months TF is in the Air Force, so I would probably buy the stuff to finish our home improvements to put the house on the market, buy anything else we would need before we move, put most of it in savings, take my ani8mals to the vet, and have one fun date night out of it

Sorry don't see the need for more violence. I'm tired of all the violence in movies, action is one thing, violence in another. By violence I'm not reading just fight scenes, Jackie Chan has those, and fight scenes are fun, I'm reading blood guts, be-headings etc. I like the books, TF and I are reading together so I am about 3/4 of the way through the second book also. I've taken a few children's literture classes and I think on many levels, the books are great for kids, plus they are enjoyable for adults which makes them much more pleaseent for bed -time stories etc. Yeah there are a few plot holes, of course many works have them. I think the character development is awesome. The Wheaslies (sp?) are fantastic. I love the way the portray the family and I love the contrast between them and the Dursley's There are so many contrasts of light and dark, good and evil in there, I think it is excellent for kids. I find the movies enjoyable, I have not made it to see the third movie yet, but we hope to go. They are great movies, nor are these great works of literture. They are enjoyable entertainment. I think that is all they were intended on being. Great works of literture are excellent, but you know I often just prefer a good escape. As for the sex comment, hmm... I am only at book 2 but I keep wondering about Ron and Hermoinine and Harry and Ron sister (oh what is her name) but that is probably my being a girl and all. I haven'tthought sex though, more just romance.

Who thinks Lord of the Ring is the best film ever made?
Brass_Bra_Leia replied to NIIIC's topic in Outside Interests
You're very welcome I voted for another film. And honestly I can't narrow it down to one, I think LOTR it is an excellent film and one of the best made. The time they took to detail everything down was fantastic. The plot was good, character development great, in every aspect it was an awesome film. But likewise you are comparing apples to oranges, the best comedy film ever would be totally different, best romance ever, etc. Gone with the Wind, was and still is an awesome movie, especially taking into account when it was made. Besides that I'm not great at labeling things the best, I have too many little things I like in too many movies. It definately rates up there with on of the over all best thoroughly developed movies. Maybe I didn't answer the poll fairley and mis-read what you are asking. Not sure, I could still say it was the best. Does that make sense. On a side not I do recommend the reading the Lord of the Rings books. Or listen to the books on tape. TF and I read through them while we were trying to get my oldest son into his own bed. It is now wonder the child has such an active imagination. TF read them many times before but while I would fight with Jacob to get him to lay down TF would read to me. They are really very enjoyable once you get past the singing. -

At the time, Star wars was big and was a great movie, but I think LoTR has far surpassed it, talking movie quality wise. Star Wars is a popcorn type movie, don't get insulted most of my favorite movies are popcorn movies, y that I mean it is really enjoyable but I don't know that there are these deeper messages, great plot or character develpement, etc. I see all of those in lord of the Rings. While I truly enjoyed Lord of the Rings and was totally impressed by it, it is also a bit intense at times. Past that I don't feel you can compare the two because you are dealing with two different areas. Two different worlds, two different ideas. You either like the intricate depth that Tolkien gave or you like the expanded universe of Star Wars. I also think it is important to consider Tolkien wrote it all himself. Star Wars has been written by countless authors. -
Dad is great he gives us choclate cake. I loved that. My parents had a bunch of Bill Cosby tapes and when we annoyed them they would just put one on and laugh. I teach parenting classes and one of the things we always teach is when all else fails use humor. Bill Cosby definately puts parenting into perspective. My other favorite was the Noah one. and of course Child birth. When I was in labor those lines from his act would just keep flashing through my mind.

I love quotes! There are certain words or phrases that just hit me and stay. Ride Bodly Ride, the shade replied, if you seek for El Dorado - El Dorado by Edgar Allan Poe (one of the only Poe poems that didn't totally freak me out, we won't even get into Tell Tale Heart) Of course this has to be folloowed by John Wayne in the movie El Dorado, "So are you ready to Ride Bodly Ride" You People Make my a*& twitch - Meg Ryan in French Kiss Love is Paitent, love is kind... (is that 1Cor 13?, I love that verse) I told you once you son of a b*tch, I'm the best that's ever been - Charlie Daniels, Devil Went Down to Georgia I did not have sex with that woman - President Bill Clinton (had to throw it in there) "Children are brain damaged" Bill Cosby

Thanks! That Playskool Taun-taun is the most adorable SW toy I think I've ever seen. All the Playskool stuff is pretty neat, especially the X-wing! But yeah, I'm just biding my time until the Cracian thumper action figure comes out. They make obscure characters or character variations into action figures, but they never seem to make the obscure characters that I want. -Thumper We got Jacob the x-wing (mainly because the kept taking TF's toys [TF does not share well ]) I never knew Darth Vader had sucha cute side before. I love those toys though, those and the spider man series they came out with for Pre-schoolers. I have boys that love guys to play with and that gives them something a little less destrucible.

Okay I think I just totally lost the ability to hold down the chocolate milk I was drinking. Yuck. That Dutch link in htere might explina why TF once ate a live goldfish. Personally I make it a rule never to eat anything that swims in it's own poop. I am a non-seafood eater. Which is pretty funny considering my dad is Cajun (big seafood people) and I try to claim myself as a pacific Islander from being born on Guam and the years I spent living there

I had no clue Fudd ruckers was that wide spread. They have fabulous food, so I shouldn't be surprised. We have a lot here in town. As for Blue Bell, love Blue Bell. TF and I used to work for the sister and borther-in -law of the owner of Blue Bell. We worked in a vet clinic and the vet was the brother in law. The family had huge ranches up near hmm... Blanco I think, and they were gorgeous.

Hmm... Possibly I will have to try that out As for boba fett, I have thought he was cool, but never quite got the attraction. I mean TF pretty much would rate him as one of the coolest characters ever (or at least in the top ten) and I see him as really a small supporting role that has what 11 lines through all three original movies. I don't quite get the fascination. I mean if you are comparing him to the Whiner (Luke), Hans Solo, Leia etc, yeah he definately beats them all out on the cool factor. My thought would be it has something to do with his bravado, and coolness under pressure.

So there are more Lumpia and Fuddruckers lovers out there. Dinochick, where did you go to Fuddruckers at, I thought they were pretty much only in San Antonio?
-
You wouldn't beleive the climate control you have to do while wearing a brass bra. I mean really, can't go out in the sun in it (at least not in San Antonio this week) you get third degree burns, and in the winter -- Whoa Nelly, frost bite in all the wrong places. It is definately an indoor only outfit
