  2. Alright, I solved the problem (thanks to the internet). The problem was that I had a corrupt autoexec.nt file in my sytem32 folder. Apparently this file would affect any installation that required 32 bit architecture and ran though its own REM files for installation. So to fix it all you have to do is click run c:\windows\repair and a folder containing autoexec.nt (never altered) is available for you to simply copy and paste back into your system32 folder (c:\windows\system32) which replaces the old corrupt autoexec.nt file. That solved the problem. So thats all one has to do whenever you encounter this issue. And I appologize for posting this here, I was unaware it was not a SWRebellion problem, but rather a problem with the operating system.
  3. Haha, I believe it is refering to 16/32 bit architecture of the processor chips. IE like the new 64 bit architecture you can purchase. I believe it is indicating to me that it needs to run 32 bit architecture and for some reason things my laptop is 16 bit. But just for the sheer hell of it I will try what you suggest, lol. Sometimes things can be that ridiculous. I know. Otherwise, I hope someone has had this problem before and understands what is required to fix it. I already tried restarting many times, even performing a registry defrag, no luck.
  4. Greetings, I have been playing SWRebellion for years now, and I recently decided to clean out my PC (manualy - I usualy know exactly what I am doing) without reformating, and I wound up removing some files necessary for the proper uninstallation of SWRebellion (*gasp* who would ever want to uninstall SWReb?) so I had to go in and manualy remove all the registry keys for the game so that the installer would function once again. However, every time I install I am getting a very odd error window. "16 bit Windows Sybsystem c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the appliaction." And I have Close and Ignore options. Either one, when chosen, simply closes the dialog box and nothing else happens. I am running WinXP on a 3.06GHz system, 32bit. So I am unsure where this 16 bit stuff is comming from. I also checked to make sure my processor speed was turned up to its full speed (via the power management options on my Toshiba laptop here). HELP!? Thanks very much!
  5. Good question. Could be a combination of things, but I would most likely atribute that to ether simple game errors (though I havent really found any SWR errors before) or simple planetary detection of the fleet inbound.
  6. In SWR manuel, it states that if you have ships in a Blockade (not necessarily with any taskforces, characters, or fighters) that they have an ability to detect persons trying to break through the blockade (and capture them) or trying to get into the planet through the blockade. I have caught people before with a fleet without any characters, special forces, OR fighters onboad. So Capital ships MUST have a detection rating.
  7. The problem with making things really high and really low whether all over the board or not is that many times the game crashes when you play it. I know if I change almost everything around in RebEd, even when its only by small incriments, the game crashes on me. But if you only made single changes like that every time, you should be able to come out with the right answer. I will be doing my own testing next week anyways. Ill let you know what I test, the numbers, and what I get out of it.
  8. Well then maybe the detection rating is the ships "signature" as you put it, whereas the higher the rating, the esier it is to detect a ship or something like that. Theories, I have no definate answer.
  9. Take a look at the ratio differences between the Gunship and the Mon Cal Cruiser. The gunship is one of the fastest to repair in the game (with 300 hall value if I am not mistaken) and the Mon Cal takes the longest. So you should get your answer from that. I am poor at math, though good at logic (and great with those sorts of paradoxs) so you would have to run the numbers.
  10. The ships in game have Hyperspace Signatures? Well, I am pretty sure all things can detect in the game, that includes planetary defences and shields, possibly even mines and refineries. Also, the populace of a world may also detect for you. I am guessing.
  11. As far as I know detection is the same for anything in the game able to detect other characters on missions, facilities on planets, etc. THe higher the detection rating, the more likely the ship should be able to detect a mission.

    Help?

Get someone to send you via MSN IM or E-mail their UN-moded strategy.dll file. I could do that if you would like to get MSN IM. Add me as an e-mail using kiae_2000@hotmail.com. My PC is really buggy right now (something messed up with IE when I was tweaking it) and thus I may not be able to send any via MSN, as I have not been able to lately. So get someone else to do that. All they need to do is explore their SWR CD and upload the strategy.dll file to their HD and then attatch it as an attachement via e-mail and away she goes.
  13. Thank you very much Mask, I appreciate that. I am happy to be here.
  14. I noted that someone mentioned the lowest they could go with a greater effect was 40 for the Hyperdrives before something messed up. Well at first I tried 150 for the hyperdrives, and realized that made things very very slow. So I put it at 1. Ever since every ship with a Hyperdrive value of 1 reaches any planet in 1 day. So I hope I am not the only person with a game that can actualy accept a value of 1 for a Hyperdrive rating. Because then 1) I have to prove it, and 2) thats gotta suck. LOL. Yes, the game is crap when the hyperdrive is that low, there is no way for the oposite side to win when you do that, its very silly, but when you balance things out, it CAN be much more fun, being that the traveling times are non existant anymore (minus lone Characters, horay for Han). So, let me know if your talking about an old version of ReEd or something, cuz a value of 1 works for me without any issues whatsoever.
  15. Greetings! Before I get into my dredging questions, I would just like to say that I have owned and played SW Rebellion ever since it came out so very long ago. I remember seeing the game in Chaptars book store in Edmonton years ago, read the game descrption and went nuts. What a time for a game of this caliber to hit the shelves. Now, since then, eventualy I wanted to check for trainers for this game, and eventualy I came across this site, and feeling so very sorry I never found this site before. I have been here maybe a year ago, but never bothered to sign up for the forums and what not as I have been teribbly busy. Now I cracked the game out again this week and installed it, remembered about RebEd and came back here. Now I feel I might as well dive into the forums and those of the SW Rebellion community, specificaly from this fine site. Now, on to my questions/comments. 1) I already read the thread about uploading the movie files from SWR to your HD and using Smacker to play the vid files. Well, I saved from .000 to .202 as requested to a folder on my desktop from the SWR CD, and I went to http://www.radgametools.com/smkdown.htm and its ether just my PC acting up again, or the site itself, as I cannot download the player at this time. Is there any other format I can rename the files into and play them on another player? Also, the MDATA files go up to .215... so what are the files from .203 to .215? 2) Comment - After downloaded RebEd again, I remembered and realized again that other than a Characters FAQ page in the readme file for RebEd, the rest of the RebEd descriptions (FAQ) for other things such as Capital Ships, Task Forces, etc, have not been "done" yet. So... whoever programed RebEd, would he still be willing for someone to write up a whole descrption for each section in RebEd? Cuz if he is, then I will be more than happy and willing to get him/her something within the next few weeks. Of course, any collaboration would be appreciated as well, as I am sure I do not know every single thing about RebEd and its functions/dynamics. 3) Might you consider, moderators/admin, stickying (if you can in these forums) posts up with detailed explinations of each portion of RebEd and what you can/can't do and how? I just figure since there are anomalous things in RebEd (though somewhat easy to figure out) such as noting that lowering the Hyperspace number (more or less as is noted in Star Wars, the lower the Hyperspace ranking, the faster the ship) speeds up your ship, rather than the reverse. Or that putting in certain values over or under a speficic mark can be more harmfull to your gameplay than beneficial, etc. Again, I would be more than willing to do that as well, and anyone is welcome to edit the post once its done in case I had forgotten anything or misdirected anyone. 4) Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to being more active within this community / forum and hope to get to know a lot of you more than not. If you would like to know where I hail from, you can check out sites such as http://www.thejedi.org, http://www.contemplarieruditio.com. Also, if you would like to take a look at some of my amature web composing work (LOL) check out http://www.lifestylecanada.com (my companies website to which I designed - it may be down at the moment as we are having issues with our DNS at present). Take care for now!
