Memory Problems when Running Rebellion

Well new to the site (kinda) - been here before, downloaded the cards, never really signed up before..

Anyways started playing Rebellion against recently (cool models btw), but have discovered that after running Rebellion for any lengthy period of time it seems to eat up my computers resources. The whole system performance thing goes down to like Very Low - 7% if I actually play for more than 3 or 4 hours, or sometimes gets so bad that I can't open any programs at all.

Rebooting fixes it just fine, but is kind of annoying. Looked through the topics (didn't actually read every message - there are lot of em after all) but didn't see anything that looked like this problem in there, if I missed it, my bad. Just lookin for some help.

Soyo 1.3 ghz, old Voodoo 3 Video Card, Win98 OS, old Esolo sound card I think (works well enough - no sound issues), 188 MB ram, little 4 gig hardrive. Never had problems with it before working with any of the hardware. Only programs I occassionally have running with it is cacheman and netlaunch (auto-dialer) and some scripting programs for MajorMUD (online text game for those of you not familiar with it).

Far as I've been able to tell none of those programs are at fault - but could easily be wrong. Cacheman says my memory usage is about normal when I come out of the game, but windows says differently and acts differently. At first I figured it might be the new models in tactical combat, but started up a game fresh, quit after maybe 200 turns when no combat had taken place and was already down like 20%. Try to open control panel when it's at it's lowest and it gives me the "Low Memory - Close Some Programs" message. Closing programs doesn't do anything, it's just like the memory's been eaten up. Is weird man.

Don't worry, except me (Marg Sabl maneuver, he Mask?) we're no nitpickers!

Don't know what the problem is. But is a 1,33Ghz processor not far too high for just 188MB, 4 Gb  ?

Try to shut down more programs that you are running. I think Cacheman is a very wrong kind of program, just delete it or something. I think you are the only guy who has this problem!

Z'anthr saves the world. Sorry about the mess...

Well I'm in the process of putting the computer together from a barebone kit and some left over hardware from my old Compaq.

As for the memory thing, turns out it has something to do with MegaMUD (a scripting program for MajorMUD). Can open as many other programs as I want, but if I open Megamud and Rebellion at the same time resources just poof. No clue why, but easy enough to avoid it in the future.

Thanks for the help guys.
