new factions

i have an idea for some new factions. right now the mod lacks a good minor faction the exists outside the empire and rebellion/new republic. what we could do is create a generic faction using ships from the imperials, CIS, and republic, to represent the corporate sector authority, or whomever. since it would just be reuse of existing material, it wouldn't be as time consuming as creating a new faction from scratch, and would help fill out the game more.

 

also, slightly unrelated, but since we have a new republic faction, wouldn't it be fitting to have an imperial remnant faction as well?

Ya mmm we're outta faction slots. :P

Plus we use tons of resources already. We use the major military factions, miltary warships - the CSA would not really fit in.

 

The New Republic is generally represented in the timeline fighting the Yuuzhan Vong. The Imperial Remnant would have been a much smaller force here - not totally distinct from the Galactic Empire given the limited war production capabilities.

I'm really tempted to copy over the whole explanation from the FAQ on why we aren't going to add in more factions, though I think Evaders has it covered better. Though in truth, SoGE is not out of faction slots; thanks to the stackable mods setup you can have as many factions as you want, assuming you have the RAM for them.

Yep. Heck, all those who clamor for a Old Republic or Galactic Alliance era faction can make one themselves with relative ease.
