COMPFORCE and non-stormtrooper Imperial Army troopers

The Galactic Empire, in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, had it's Commission to Preserve the New Order (COMPNOR), which included Compforce as COMPNOR's paramilitary division.

 

Compforce itself was divided into two divisions: Observation and Assault. Compforce members with Observation were essentially officers within the Imperial Navy or Imperial Army. Compforce Assault soldiers were basically a type of stormtrooper within the Imperial Army.

 

The Imperial Army had millions of ground troops, and the majority of them were Imperial stormtroopers, with most of the stormtroopers either being human clones or Compforce Assault troopers. I assume that most non-stormtroopers within the Imperial Army were actually Imperial Navy troopers more-or-less temporarily assigned as ground troops.
