Hrm , I read all the tutorials and stuff , so I went ahead and wanted to replace my boring carrack cruiser with an ESSD. Since i cant see the tactical.dll file in my rebellion folder , i had to start>find etc and found it in there. I pulled the .dll out , opened it with resource hacker , went to 301>2540 , then clicked on 1033 that opened with that folder , and replaced it with the eclipse_final.x file. i made sure the numbers were in the right place , and did the same process with the 2541 and 2542 , making sure that i put 2541 in the middle box when i went to replace the 2541>1033 file with .x file. repeat with 2542. when i was done , i closed RH , and saved over the .dll sitting on my desktop. then i manually took that .dll file and put it back in the rebellion Edata folder. i tryed viewing the new ship with RebEd and... nothing! tryed it in the game , nothing...

I'm pretty sure i got a full install going , (the 150 mb one right?). do i have to replace the models when there still in the edata folder or somthing? im on win 98 btw if it helps any

MANY THX FOR ANY HELP!

edit: ok i got masks funky auto-install thingie , i followed the instuctions , put the tactical.dll in the same folder as program , ran it , and got this in the log file:

Well, both attempts were done the right way, but:

the tactical.dll needs to be in the Rebellion folder for the replaced models to be shown. :idea::wink:

If you can't see dlls in your Windows explorer, try opening up its settings and turn off the option that hides "critical and system files". That should show you a whole lot of files more :D

Edit: as you can see in the script, the ini file for the model importer program was not in the same folder as the program, so it used the standard settings (which worked nevertheless in your case). Also the replacement was successful, as you can see in the "Commands completed" line.

thx for responding dude

does it matter which rebellion folder? its sitting in my import folder while it was originally in my Edata folder. do the changes when using rh have to be applied when the .dll is in the rebellion folder? the .dll is sitting in the import folder with the program , as per instructions. the import folder is in the rebellion folder. also im on win 98 , so either i cant go to settings and turn off hide critical files ,or im a retard and not doing it right:? also , my ini file , which is called 'rmodimp' i believe has this when i click it:

location=.\tactical.dll

saveas=.\tactical.dll

after i run the program with the .dll in my import folder ( the folder where the program is in) , do i put it back in the Edata folder where i was originally? the game seems to run without it being in the edate folde r, but it wount display the new models. do i need any other programs to display the models? cuz i only have RH to open the .dll and got nothing else:?: :?::?::?:

many thx for any help man

Forget the EDATA folder :D

The tactical.dll is in the main Rebellion folder, along with the Rebexe.exe.

The model importer program should be in a new folder in that main folder (the name can be anything you like). The ini file, if present, should have these settings

    location=..\tactical.dll
    saveas=..\tactical.dll

, if you installed it this way. One ..\ means 'one directory up'.

If you do it this way, then the only tactical.dll that should be in your game folder will be updated with the new models, textures, ... and should be visible in the game.
