Model swapping, and exchange tutorial problems

Hey, Its been a good 2 years since i last posted here. Anyways I spent the better half of a day scouring the forums for a guide to how to swap the original models with each other (not swapping with new ones, just extracting and switching the old ones around) After a full 5 hours of searching and trial and error, could find no quick fix for swaping the models by changing the names of the resource files via reshacker and all extracting and importing questions refer to a model exchange document, that i think was written by the Mask long ago, which seems to have ceased working about half a year ago I downloaded it 3 or 4 times and it just plain doesn't work anymore.

 

As for what i could find, out, apparently you can use resource hacker to extract and then replace the files manually, which is really the only thing i can do since my computer doesn't like the model importer.

But i need to know whether I'm to export them in hexdump, BIN or RES format and what exactly i have to call the separate files. Also after 4 or five attempts at testing it out myself, i managed to replace the files but the models no longer appeared in rebed, does that mean it didn't work? or does rebed not recognize swapped files immediately? I did turn it on and off to check, no difference. But i didn't feel like crashing to desktop over spilled milk.

 

Alternately if there is a quick fix for just switching the model's position or the entire ships position so that you start with for example mon calamari cruisers instead of Alliance Escort carriers, then your help would be appreciated.

That was exsactly the thing that didn't work. I explicitly wrote that i downloaded those exact files 3 or 4 times and help thing wouldn't open, it just gave me a "connection error" or something cause it couldn't find the source of the file.

Am I the only one who can't read that help thing? the second one works fine, but its the first one i can't get to work.

Never mind I fixed it, My anti virus didn't like it, I was just tired after 5 hous of digging. I didn't mean to get upset.
