I can't run rebellion on my supposed to be bad-ass computer

I recently updated my desktop and laptop and now Rebellion wont work. Both are x86 Vista Home Premium 32 bit computers. The desktop is a quadcore and the laptop is a duelcore. Is there anyway I can temporarily revert my computer to 16 bit so the game will install? Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, if you find you are having lag during space combat, try turning off your video card and restart. Device manager, disable video card, restart computer... it's an ancient game and don't need no fancy 3Dness.
