Universe Crash

I have v1.1, I made a new profile 3 times, tried every single map, re-downloaded all the files 3 times, reinstalled HW2 in between dl'ing files again, yet I can't play multiplayer, singleplayer, player vs CPU, or even run through the tutorials without crashing at universe.  I have absolutely no other mods as warlords is the only one I've ever tried and I have no older versions.  I Also tried tons of different setting combinations for Player vs CPU and tried every race, no dice.  Any help? do you have the oldships.big activated in the command line? take that out as it is the largest cuaser of troubles.

I think I did actually...I'll try it without it when I get home to get on my computer.
