Hi,

First of all, great job with the mod, 0.45 was great, models looked great and all that, really enjoyable mod anyway.

But I'm having some troubles running the new version of your mod for some reason, which leads me to my second part...how do I fix my problem?

To help y'all doing that, I'm gonna try to explain what's actually up, and what I've done so far, see if I haven't forgotten anything or something like that...

Ok so first well...I've installed the game, then patched it to 1.1 version. Quite obviously I then downloaded all the .BIG files in the download section of your website. Then I put em' all in the Data file in my Homeworld 2 directory. Didn't work. I just got a black screen....then back to windows.

So I then went on your forums, and tried to do some reading, eventually found an appearent solution to my problem...so I redownloaded all the files, and it actually improved my situation for now I can actually get to the game menu.

So of course I then tried to run a player vs CPU game, to try the mod out, I pretty much leave the game rules (Warlords 0.5) unchanged with a few exceptions, then I run the game, first on one of the new maps (above Coruscant I think), it loads, and as it got to "Universe"...it crashed and went back to windows. Now I tried quite a few things to try and get it to work, like not changing the game rules at all, using a classic map (first one actually), and so on...but nothing worked.

I also tried to create another ingame profile...didn't work.

So...any idea about what the problem may be? And how I could fix it?

And in order to help you helping me...here's the HW2 log, as I've seen that you guys often requested it :

I also tried to create another ingame profile...didn't work.

Hmmm, any other idea? :s

Edit : Yea, tried again, still crashes at the "Universe" point. Other detail, I usually try to run an Imperial vs Alliance game...could that cause a problem?

I guess this is where the problem lies, just posting it here so y'all don't have to read the whole post (I'm not sure I would myself :P)

Any idea how to fix that?

well only other thing i can think of was when that kept happening to me its either

1) map

2) you may have not have the fixes update or one of the other big files, its easy to miss a file in the current format

3) try a fresh install of hw2

Those along with a new profile are the things i can think off, do you have the update zip, i know i have it and have no problems.

the enginetrail lines are harmless, the error is probably cropping up because of the ordering of the command line

C:\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod Planetpack.Big,SWSOUND.Big,SWMUSIC.Big,GENHODS.Big,PLATHODS.Big,IMPHODS.Big,REBHODS.Big,PIRHODS.Big,CORE.Big,FIXES.Big,CW.Big,PATCH.Big -luatrace -hardwareCursor

make sure you have all of those files.

That's the exact command line I've used. And I just checked, I have all of those files in my Data folder.

do you have the update zip

No I don't have it, but I thought that I didn't need it if I used both PATCH.Big and FIXES.Big files?

I guess I'll just uninstall and reinstall the game (although I've already tried that), patch it again then see if it still won't work.

Oh yea, and it ain't a map problem, tried enough of em' to be able to tell at least that.

Edit : Forgot to add one thing, I've installed hw2 on a drive other than C:, but I've specified it in the command line. Can your mod actually recognize other drives names? Sorry if that sounds dumb and all, but I just barely know a thing about computers lol...

its a valid question, but I don't think it should be a problem, try switchign the order of CW.big and patch.big that is important

don't need update.zip (i'm deleteing it now)

I'm redownloading the files (again...) takes time but heh, not any busy for now so.

If that doesn't work...guess I'll just wait 'till you guys release some .exe file for the mod or something. 0.45 worked just fine for me, but this one just...won't :s.

But do you even plan on releasing a .exe installer?

Okayyyy found the problem...looks like it was coming from the desktop shortcut, it was...corrupted for some reason :s, I deleted it, made a new one, put the command line in and everything went juuuust fine, thanks for the help though.
