SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted December 3, 2006 SWR Staff - Executive Posted December 3, 2006 Eville got a new system, nice I got a new system from the Thanksgiving deals, excellant stuff from Fry's. Though it is a desktop I normally keep at home, so I will try Warlords on it as soon as I can. New computer cost me only $500 (except for DVD drive and Hard Drive) Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (overclocked slightly to 2.2 Ghz)Memory: 2 GB DDR2 533Video card: Nvidia 7900 GS (eVGA .. stock specs I believe)video memory: 256 MBresolution played at: (fill in later)Antialiasing level:ansiotropic level: Evaders99http://swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif Webmasterhttp://swrebellion.com/images/banners/swcicuserbar.png Administrator Fighting is terrible, but not as terrible as losing the will to fight.- SW:Rebellion Network - Evaders Squadron Coding -The cake is a lie.

SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted December 4, 2006 SWR Staff - Executive Posted December 4, 2006 After all the rebates, it was $120. An excellant deal considering the on-label price was $250. eVGA also has a lifetime warranty and their contest to win back the cost of the card. The only thing I'm annoyed about was the MSI motherboard that was bundled with the CPU. Can't figure out how to change the CPU core voltage, otherwise I would seriously try and max it out to the near 2.8 Ghz they've gotten the E6400 to clock. It's a real dinosaur now. Hopefully buying a new system next year....bring on SLI.....
SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted December 7, 2006 SWR Staff - Executive Posted December 7, 2006 SLI generally isn't worth it for the price. If you spend that much money, just go and get the next higher single card. It will perform better than the SLI dual setup usually. (Of course, if you want to go all out and get the latest 8800 GTX .. and then SLI that baby... sinking $$$ down the drain) Evaders99http://swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif Webmasterhttp://swrebellion.com/images/banners/swcicuserbar.png Administrator Fighting is terrible, but not as terrible as losing the will to fight.- SW:Rebellion Network - Evaders Squadron Coding -The cake is a lie.
dojoyoda_warlords Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 wouldn't it be nice? Two 8800's against my current clunker would be like a race between a jet and a monocycle being ridden by a one legged man. *sighs* money, money, money........
Darth Malice Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 (edited) atm im using a P4 2.8ghz1.5megs of ddr ram ( 233mhz i believe, my computers like 4years old)256meg Geforce 6600 x8 agpres: 1024x768Antialiasing level: x8sansiotropic level: x4 works fine however with the constant building and the death models its starts to lag alot, man i wish i had PCIe Edited January 24, 2007 by Darth Malice

I think im gona get one of these when i build my new computer, really gona put my old 6600 to shame ( its not even half as powerful)

SWR Staff - Executive Evaders99 Posted January 24, 2007 SWR Staff - Executive Posted January 24, 2007 It is possible to do 8800 in SLI..http://www.techreport.com/onearticle.x/11686 Evaders99http://swrebellion.com/images/banners/rebellionbanner02or6.gif Webmasterhttp://swrebellion.com/images/banners/swcicuserbar.png Administrator Fighting is terrible, but not as terrible as losing the will to fight.- SW:Rebellion Network - Evaders Squadron Coding -The cake is a lie.
Darth Malice Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 yeah i know it can do do SLI, what i meant was actually having big enough space on your motherboard to do it that article was however very interesting, seems its not worth getting the GTX for SLI, you may as well get the cheaper one which only performs slightly less, still i think the GTX is a much better buy, i think im gona be getting a GTX now, i was going to get a pre-overclocked GTS, man i was really shocked by the performace difference (as in single card mode, looks like the GTX peaks with current drivers). BTW, i changed my views on it being overpriced for myself anyways as hopefully i should be getting a new rig within a week or so
