GC modding consultation

Tell me about anything GC limits, coordinates range, max num of planets and heroes etc. And the most interesting: can I make not 1-5 tech levels but 1-10 or more?

 

I'm going to make 2 playable factions with minimal 20 heroes, ~5-10 non-playable factions, >100 planets and alot more.

If you make the planets smaller, it'll probably work. It's mainly probably what your computer can handle. I've never really considered the planet/coorinate limit, but I'd assume you can have as many planets as a comp can handle and put them as far as the game lets you see. Heroes are only limited to file space as a far as I know. Nonplayable factions are pretty easy, I think you could manage 5-10. I believe somewhere there was a specific limit of factions/non-playable factions, but I forgot the numbers.

i think you can hav something like 21 NPFs.

Yeah, that's what I heard. I know Lavarider has got 8 playables working.

the question is, are they working without bugs?

i doubt games have much consideration for the modding community, and those that do don't spend long letting the coding etc. accommodate the modders

According to Lavarider, all 8 factions are in perfect working order. EaW/FoC seems very modder friendly to me.

yes, EAW is undoubtedly the mods modder-friendly game i've played, but there are always hardcoded issues.

You get around the hardcoded issues by using the hard coding form another faction to help out....If my CIS acts like the consortium in some cases, its no biggie....so long as a human can use it and enjoy it.  Im actually deciding whether or not I want to make my own GC campaign for my mod...what do you guys think?

GC campaign? You should check out the unfinished story mode in my mod, it may help. Just remember to mention me. :)
