Second of all, its amoral - if you just blatantly use other people's work without their permission, noone will want to make anything anymore since it'll just get stolen.

 

I'm not saying that. My point was that if team members, (like myself) want to distribute content they made for the mod, they should be able to. That's all.

When you joined the mod, you agreed that everything you submit to the mod is property of the mod and is not to be redistributed without the leader's permission. So its like giving something to a museum and agreeing that the museum can keep it forever - and then going back in and taking it.

 

Eagle would be the museum owner - even if the museum were to close down, its still their property unless they decide to give it to you, unless the terms were that you get it back when the museum closes, which isn't the case. I'm sure MSEagle has a valid reason not to free-release the content...

 

And do note that more than one person worked on a specific piece - some drew the concept art, some made the model, some made the skin. And they ALL agreed to that clause.

 

Being able to model a starship does NOT justify any of these ridiculously arrogant claims that modders are nobility and everyone else is a moocher or scum.

 

Noone is saying modders are nobility, but the truth is, there ARE moochers and scum. Not everyone, but they exist. *cough, Drk, cough* If you want something, suck it up and ask for permission in person - don't expect a free release of everything. The thing is, people are BEGGING for free-release models: just look at the Free-Model release thread. If you ask, you have a chance of getting permission to use it, but lazy bastards and moochers would rather beg for free-release instead of asking in person and doing a few favors. I cannot say how much I utterly loathe and despise those who can do nothing but ask for people to help and claim work as their own.

Looking at the thread title, it suddenly seems so very funny. The title reads rest in peace, but certain people want to pick at AoSW's now mangled corpse.

I have not problems if AOSW creators do not want distribute the models or their code. I only have sayed the true, they have not legal rights to stop the use of their work.

 

And good probably on a few years all AOSW members will be making other things and they will not remember the mod and their work will be stop on their memories because they did not want distribute their work. But I have not problems to it.

 

And I do not think that the AOSW is dead. It is only a change of game as many more made with the EAW to FOC. But..........probably they will making porting if they put things from Lucasarts on Sega`s game. I think that you can not take nothing from FOC and put it on WOC.
