masterjojobinks Posted August 7, 2003 Share Posted August 7, 2003 I just had the weirdest thing happen to me. The AI built a DS without intervention from RebEdit. Below I say how it happened. I have been playing this game for years and had never lost to the AI player either side. I generally allow the AI 200 days of straight play without doing anything except moving people from Yavin. This give the AI a good head start, though it never mattered. Still killed the empire without any problem. I have really looked for a challenge lately so I have investigated RebEdit. All though with this game there was only a couple of minor changes. Namely the Golan III BS for both sides and Home One in place of the Mon Cal Cruiser. (Now I do understand that Home One for a Mon Cal is not quite fare but I was just testing.) Though I did not give the AI 200 days this time, I did give it a huge head start. Apparently I gave it a huge advantage. I took the small fleet that I had and did civilian orbital bombardment of all but one of my planets. They all suggessfully went to the Empire with most every planet in the core sectors. This was an interesting start since I was about –440 in maintenanace points. So I start losing things. Lost all of my fleet except on Golan and one medium transport and one corvette. I also decided not to get any planet in the core until all recruiting was done. It took me a little while to get back to 0 maintenance points (300 days). By that time I had finished recruiting and starting getting a couple of planets back in the core just to get some maintenance points so I could build something. During the 300 days I did get a bulk transport and colonized the sector my headquarters was in. I got a couple of the core planets back on my side with diplomacy and started building a construction planet and training planet in my home sector and starting colonizing the sector next to me. After getting my construction yards built I starting building GenCore I for my home sector. Soon after (about 50 days) the empire started taking planets in my home sector. I had to fight to get the GenCore’s there in time. Still lost a couple and had to go beat them down to get them back. I also started a construction planet in the next sector over to start build some base for my maintenance points so I could build a fleet. After a while, I had all the planets that where neutral in the core on my side and started protecting them with GenCore’s and troops. Lost a couple of those too. Anyway shortly after that the empire found my home plant and proceeded in taking my ships away from me. Bad battle I had a corvette, medium transport, Golan III, dreadnaught, and a nebellion cruiser. The imps had of course an interdictor, a victory class SD, two ISDs, and a carrier, and a couple star galleons. All loaded with men and ties. Well I knew I was toast so I did what I could to take out the interdictor and escape. Well I did escape but only with the frigate. It was at that point (about 500 days) that I started building a ship building planet and stop working on a maintenance base. Had about 800 points to spend. Built 5 gunship, and started home one. At that point I starting build a ship planet in the sector next door and started two nebellion frigates. About this time I got a natural disaster on Ithor and lost my two GenCore's and here came the imps, lucky chance. They assaulted and then came after my small fleet. Home one was not finished yet so just a nebellion frigate, 1 escort carrier, and 5 Gunships against 4 ISD, 2 VSD, 5 lancer frigates, a couple of escort carriers and 4 gallons. They where ready for fight and an assault. Well I fled and went back. The one thing about the AI I have never had it bombard a planet with 2 GenCore's. So it left and head elsewhere. I got Home one and started 10 a-wings. Started the escort carriers at my other shipyard. Got those and the a-wings about the same time. Started 3 liberator cruisers and two cc-7700. I figured with this I had a decent fleet. (900 days) About that time the imp came back to reclaim the two planets back they assaulted. I took my home fleet and went to protect the two GenCore’s in hyperspace to Ithor had just gotten my first liberator and cc-7700. Much to my surprise as soon as I left my head quarts a fleet show up. So I now have two fleets attacking two planets at once. Well I was not worried about my head quarters because it had 2 GenCore II’s and a turbo laser battery, general and commander. Well I sent my fleet to the other unprotected planet that had a fleet on the way. Before my fleet could get there I had the strangest thing happen. I got the movie cinematic come up that showed a death star. This is the first time the A.I. has ever built a DS since I have played the game. Now I was going to use RebEdit latter in the game to make sure the A.I. built one but I have not touched the DS using RebEdit. Well to conclude the story it used the DS laser to destroy my home world in turn destroying my headquarters and capturing Mon Mothma. The game was over… Oh Luke got captured trying to espionage Coriscant to up his abilities so he could train the other 5 Jedi candidates. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bombard my planets in the core systems until they suport empire and then wait until day 500 to do anythings in core systems. I won this game and never play again against the AI. Likinsman Posted August 26, 2003 Share Posted August 26, 2003 i fought a death star for the first time the other day. it scared me book i took care of the situation and sent a group of x-wings on a trench run and had a wings covering them. i finally destroyed it but my fleet was severly wounded minus a few crusiers.
