5i1 Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 JUST Opening them? Use Internet Explorer. Yes it opens them. And for your info to edit you must open, use notepad to open, just don't change anything http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6328/sig02un8.pngMy Screenshot Collection (It's always growing)Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Player/ ModderEmpire At war Player/ ModderFOC Player/ Modder
NovaRaptor Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Yeah internet explorer if you just want to look but not touch. It will even tell you if you messed up code.
Droid803 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Open = Edit. Its useless to open and not be able to edit...I have not the faintest clue in the world why you would want to open and not edit. Eyes > IE in terms of catching mistakes. Notepad is FTW. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v423/kc1991/droid803sig.jpg"That was fun"
Shadowtrooper Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I used to use notepad, but since I got Visual Studio I use that. Really good for keeping me mistake free...mostly. admiral boty Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 Ok, I'll try that Visual Studio Program and the notepad, Thx you all! http://myspacebrand.com/userbars/1/european.gifhttp://img338.imageshack.us/img338/8792/empireuserbarru2.pnghttp://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3138/rcuserbarrz9.pnghttp://img48.imageshack.us/img48/6922/sweawubanso8.pnghttp://Hungarian.Socialist.Party.WillBeDefeated.com/
Nomada_firefox Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Macromedia Dreamweaver MX or XML Viewer version 3.0, the Macromedia Dreamweaver is a html editor but you can open and create xml files without problems. Xml viewer is very good to look for errors on code or take a fast look on it when you have files as a hardpoints.xml with 3.15mb of information and 60090 lines. Shadowtrooper Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Ok, I'll try that Visual Studio Program and the notepad, Thx you all! Well Visual Studio 2005 (which I'm using) retails for $300 so you probably don't wan't to get it if you're only going to use it for this. You can, however, get the express editions for free here, I think you'll want the web developer one. It should work just as well for the sake of modding EaW. I like VS though because it can create schemas linked to the software's Intellisense which lets me see what tags are missing, incomplete, or not properly filled in. It also tries to complete the tags for me so I don't make careless spelling errors. Yodaminch Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I use Crimson Editor to edit files and Firefox to view them for any errors. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/knivesdamaster/tags/sith_omguserbar_member.jpg
Kodor Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Dreamweaver MX education version. Apart of macromedia Studio 8, $150 through my school . Education version is the same as full retail its just licensed for use by students and educators. Great program. The only mistakes I make are when I get careless with the cut and paste. Of course I went and bought it for $300 from the macromedia education store.
