Re: Auto Save on Map Editor: How to disable?

I'm [censored] annoyed at this "feature".

I'd rather like to call it a burden! Every now and then, it "saves" the map for you, yes, that's nice, if it didn't freeze and crash the map, or autosave a corrupted file that the map editor can't read! It even gets rid of your history so you can't undo afterwards. Is there a  way to disable this stupid thing so I can actually map without having to start over 70% of the time beacues a stupid "feature" that hinders more than helps. Not one time has the Autosave actually saved my map, it ruined it more than ten times though. I would actually LIKE to map if that didn't happen!

 

I want to [censored] tear apart the source and get rid of it, but first, is there a simple way to get rid of it? I lost my entire modded map that I spent three days on to it! I'm not starting again until autosave DIES.

Have you tried 'read onlying' the autosave file? I wouldn't recommend you try it on you're most prized work of art, though. ::)This wouldn't disable the feature, but it may disarm the harmful parts. Or disable the good things, and totally smash the map. :

 

Other than that, I'd say save often. This never happened to me, and I've found some other glitches.

Ah, I made a same topic a while ago... From what I know there's no way to disable it...

I already lost at least:

- 2 or 3 Rhen Var maps (for SotE);

- 1x Cato Neimoidia;

- 1x M4-78 (for AoSW)... But the new one is looking better then the other;

- 1x 'Bantha Docks' Project - but I had a backup;

- 1x Battle of Endor 'demo attract' map;

- and a project called "Troubles at Mustafar Map Pack" (1 Space map and 1 Land map), but had no backup for it...  :'(

 

As you may suspect after this list, I HATE with ALL OF MY FORCES that DAMN autosave "FEATURE"!!!!!  >

 

EDITED: Sorry, I just remmembered that I didn't lost all these maps due to that damn 'feature'... Some of them (like the Mustafar ones, Bantha Docks, and one of the Rhen Var maps) were lost when my Map Editor went crazy - I cliked in the icon to start then it said it wasn't installed and after I 're-install' it, it corrupted lots of maps...

So i guess there's not way of killing it then...oh dam.

Well, it tried to autosave, then it corrupted my map, and restarted my computer lol. And then XFire wouldn't run until I restarted, and then FoC wouldn't run until I restarted my computer again, but not sure if that's related.

It might not be as bad as his. I haven't dared start the thing again since that day. lol.
