Star Wars Godzilla Ruler Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) Quick question. How do I add ship names and make them work? When I go to notepad and add names, it gets all screwed up. What am I doing wrong? Edited April 2, 2007 by Star Wars Godzilla Ruler
Droid803 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 EaWFoC uses a special type of TXT file which you cannot set. Copy an existing file, rename it, and edit it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v423/kc1991/droid803sig.jpg"That was fun"
Star Wars Godzilla Ruler Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007 Thanks again, Droid803, I don't know what I would do without your great advice.
Mike.nl Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 EaWFoC uses a special type of TXT file which you cannot set. Oh, really? You mean a Unicode file? With a proper BOM? Notepad is perfectly capable of producing those.Try selecting "Unicode" as encoding when saving a new file.
Star Wars Godzilla Ruler Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007 Thanks to you too, Mike.nl.
HK-47 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Interesting, Mike.nl, because some time ago I did that and it didn't work... (Must be on some of my older, crappy topics). I needed to copy the game one and rename it...
Droid803 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I remeber someone saying it couldn't be set so just copy and existing one...its never been a burned anyway - its only around 20 lines to delete... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v423/kc1991/droid803sig.jpg"That was fun"
Mike.nl Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I don't know who said that, but he was being ignorant or jumping to conclusions.Save a file as .txt, Unicode encoding and it will work. I've checked the resulting file with a hex editor and the file is identical to the existing files, if you use the same shipnames, of course. This isn't about ease of creating new files, it's about the principal. Copying existing files isn't necessary.
