Alderaan For Sale

Alloo.

I'm not much of a modder and I'll probably never will be, however, I have run into a little problem and I'm gonna have to fix it. Bare with me, I'll try and keep this explanation as short as possible.

 

In my campaign I was supposed to blow up Alderaan with a newly aquired Death Star. Expecting the Rebels to be waiting I sent over a Bounty Hunter first to try and take care of Fleet Commanders and the like. Ofcourse, no one was there and I figured I'd check out the planet surface. That's basically how I came to own Alderaan.

The problem here is that not even the Emperor is evil enough to blow up his own planets (I tried) and I am now stuck in this mission.

 

I am reasonably confident that it's possible to change control of this planet back to the Rebels by means of some modding. So here's the question:

Can I change a 0 to a 1 somewhere in an XML file to give Alderaan back to the Rebels, so I won't have to start all over again?

Just abandon the planet. Take all your forces off, sell your buildings on Alderaan (everything you can sell anyway), and let the Rebels come and take control. They should attack and try to retake it.

Yeah, I got that advice somewhere else as well.

But I'm not expecting any Rebellion activity soon. Alderaan was the only Rebel planet left, apart from the planets that weren't accesible yet.

I've cleared the way for them though, assuming Yavin 4 will be their starting point, the route would be Korriban to Kessel to Alderaan. In theory ofcourse.

Any idea how long it would take for them to come and get it?

Will they actually come and get it? Coz I've been pretty thorough in exterminating the Rebel scum. It's kind of a neurotic thing.

you killed it off

 

as for modding, i dont think you can mod the planet back to the rebels, because that sort of data is held in the save game files, not XML or LUA(as far as i know)and i dont think EaW has a save game editor(of course i could be wrong, its happened before...)

Nope. The sad thing about modding is, you can't get attached to your save files. When you test your own mod, have a certain goal in mind.
