Kuren Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Hi, I just got Forces of Corruption and am just now deciding to take a gander at modding things. I was wondering, how would I go about adding ships to the build lists in skirmish? I managed to extract the config.meg file and was looking through the xmls, but I have no idea what file governs what can be built in skirmish. Perhaps someone has a link to something simple? Like making the X-Wing buildable for the Consortium or the snowspeeder available to the Empire?

Then look in Starbases.XML and Specialstructures.XML and locate a part called Whateverfactionyouchose buildables singleplayer and one for multiplayer. Singleplayer is just upgrades in GC. Multiplayer is what you build in skirmish.P.S this should have been put in questions from new members section.
jonesy Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 As said above, starbases.xml is the place to look...then go to the bottom set of imp and rebel starbases that are specifically for skirmishes and you will see the ships in the build list of each starbase (along with other upgrades -- if you want to add more bonus upgrades, that's the place to add them). Also, for an editor, I would suggest textpad, it allows tabbed editing of files and is my main editor for xmls. http://www.ultimate-eaw.com/images/jones2.gif

On my crappy computer, it counts - its faster to open up IE to check and manually fix that to open one of those editors... jedi_consulor Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 In Squadrons.xml you will see on the spaceunits they have a section of code for multiplayer build options. - You should make a copy of this bit of code and copy it to your new spaceunit (if it hasn't got this code already) Then you just need to look in Starbases.xml and Starbases_underworld if your adding new skirmish units for the consortium faction. At the bottom of each of those files you will find skirmish starbases 1 - 5 in each section of code for each of those starbases, are skirmish build types for the spaceunits - telling the starbase what it can build at that base level. Add your new unit(s) to any of the skirmish starbases you feel you want to be able to build the new space unit at. It's really simple to see where you place your new unit as you won't miss the other units in the code that it can already build. Once you have done all this - your new space unit is - should be buildable in skirmish for your space battles. Kuren Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Thanks for all the help I think I got it now, and I just wanted preexisting units as an example so if I had new models/units laying around that I wanted to use personally, I'd have some idea as to how to put them in, opposed to going 'Well damn, I have no idea what I'm doing' =P

I have changed HP stats moved planets added one in EaW (Called it Orion in honor of my all time favorite strategy game) Anyway, I downloaded the Space Addon Mod for FOC and unlike EaW it does not have any Campaign*.xml's How do I add my favorite planet to the generic map or change my starting forces or planets? Thanks
