Guest
Anglo Saxonism-The Idea that English will become the dominant language in the world, everyone will learn to speak it, also pertains to being the "best" language. It's true for the most part. English replaced french as the language of diplomacy, it's the language of money, and I think the language of science too. Mikan Cyclone
That is true, but Japanese and Spanish are making strong stands. Spanish is the main enemy of english, though. But, I wouldn't be surprised if Japanese becomes a very major world language. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i276/At-At_controller/leetspeak4cz1jr.gif

Guest
English is so succesfull because it is so flexible. In other languages you can miss one syllable in a word and throw the whole thing off and whoever your talking to won't understand. My dad is always telling me about this. He knows spanish and when he was in france there were a good deal of people that knew spanish. But my dad learned "Western Hemisphere" spanish, they speak a little bit differnt in Spain. anyway he was talking to someone and that situation happend and he had to pronounce the word several times before the other guy figured out what he was trying to say. By contrast english is very flexible. You can say any word in any tone and draw it out as much as you like and you will still be understood. Correct me if I'm wrong but in asian languages each word has to be said with the right pitch or something like that.
Grand Admiral Thrawn 889
Something like that it also the same with some of the African Languages if you put the accent on the wrong part of the word a simple Phrase turns into an insult. Also did you know the first time that they translated the Mcdonalds 'I'm Lovin' It' slogan into Russian they mistranslated it and it was an insult or something rude. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n292/Admiral_Antilles/Thrawncopy.jpghttp://img525.imageshack.us/img525/3269/pffuserbar2globalmodnx9.jpg I Support the Resistance!
