Logan Felipe Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 One day I saw this show on PBS. Very late at night when noone watches Public Broadcasting (as if they watch it alot anyway). It was called "Finding America". A bunch of old Grandmothers in the Deep South of the United States were burning SW videogames, Harry Potter books, and a few LoTRgames; all in one of those ToysRus toy bins. When interviewed one of the old grannies said, and I quote:"We're saving our grandchildren." I"M NOT KIDDING!!!NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!WTH is the World Coming to?!?! http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sf/type/0/captainartenon.pnghttp://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Sith_Lords_EaW/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=5554600Alternate Sitehttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://img228.imageshack.us/img228/6296/sweawuban0cg.pngPetition for Obsidian and Bioware to work on Knights of the Old Republic III together! 3926 Total Signatures and counting!SW Fanon Wiki entry - Captain Artenon"A fake news show on fox should have real news!" -Louis Black, The Daily Show.
chip5541 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Ever hear the song "Witchhunt" by RUSH. It was in teh Moving Pictures album. The night is blackWithout a moonThe air is thick, and still The vigilantes gather onThe lonely torchlit hill Features distorted in the flickering lightThe faces are twisted and grotesqueSilent and stern in the sweltering nightThe mob moves like demons possessedQuiet in conscience, calm in their right ---Confident their ways are best continued below... The righteous riseWith burning eyesOf hatred and ill-will Madmen fed on fear and liesTo beat, and burn, and kill They say there are strangers, who threaten usIn our immigrants and infidelsThey say there is strangeness, too dangerousIn our theatres and bookstore shelvesThat those who know what's best for us ---Must rise and save us from ourselves Quick to judgeQuick to angerSlow to understand Ignorance and prejudiceAnd fearWalk hand in hand
Logan Felipe Posted November 27, 2006 Author Posted November 27, 2006 good song there. http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sf/type/0/captainartenon.pnghttp://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Sith_Lords_EaW/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=5554600Alternate Sitehttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://img228.imageshack.us/img228/6296/sweawuban0cg.pngPetition for Obsidian and Bioware to work on Knights of the Old Republic III together! 3926 Total Signatures and counting!SW Fanon Wiki entry - Captain Artenon"A fake news show on fox should have real news!" -Louis Black, The Daily Show.

Mikan Cyclone Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 They have a horribly closed mind. I mean, most of that stuff couldn't hurt a fly...LOTR and SW could even be described as a Christian allegory...though that would upset many ppl. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i276/At-At_controller/leetspeak4cz1jr.gif

Mikan Cyclone Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 interesting factoid, I guess. I never really think about it at all. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i276/At-At_controller/leetspeak4cz1jr.gif
Dorkthehunter Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 There is a larger allegory in LOTR than SW. Someone wrote a book "Finding God in the Lord of the Rings" talking about that. It's a good book. But Chronicles of Narnia still has the best allegory of all time. Protecting the world from those who have an IQ higher than 30! Huzzah! Trust me...I'm a professional. It's a good book. But Chronicles of Narnia still has the best allegory of all time. I'm not going to delve too deep philosophically here in fear of angering any super-fundamentalist-christians here (or the people who made "Election Wars") but I have to disagree. LOTR, SW, Harry Potter, etc. are based on key story elements of ALL Religions and Mythologies - From the trials of Hercules to Hindu beliefs to Christianity. For example; The Hindu god of destruction has four arms, resembling Grievous in basic shape. One part the story of Luke skywalker actually draws from the story of the Greek Phaeton, son of Helios, Greek god of the sun. Order 66 bears resemblence to the Norse "Ragnarok", where the gods and the giants fight in a great and terrible battle. Brother against brother for greed's sake. All is destroyed, except for the slightest hope (in SW this would be Luke and Leia). Did any of you know that GL consulted with philosopher Joseph Campbell when creating the story of the SW saga?In Bill Moyer's interviews with Campbell (who died several years ago) collectively known as "The Power of Myth", Campbell describes Lucas as "his favorite student". http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sf/type/0/captainartenon.pnghttp://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Sith_Lords_EaW/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=5554600Alternate Sitehttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://img228.imageshack.us/img228/6296/sweawuban0cg.pngPetition for Obsidian and Bioware to work on Knights of the Old Republic III together! 3926 Total Signatures and counting!SW Fanon Wiki entry - Captain Artenon"A fake news show on fox should have real news!" -Louis Black, The Daily Show.
Guest Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 The Hindu god of destruction has four arms, resembling Grievous in basic shape. I dunno about that. That could be true but in the ROTS concept art book they said they made grievous's 2 arms split into 4 because it was cool. And that he was the main action villan and needed some cool special ability

Ghostly_Substance Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 THis is half on and half off topic. Grannies have been recently going wacko in the brains......well maybe always but I seen them going so since they also come to Canadian Tire and ask me where stuff are. I tell them where it could be or that I don't know and they start thinking they know everything in the store since they start boasting -.- Had a old couple and they were looking for reflective tape or something like that and I repeated what they said then they automatically said "Never mind i'll ask someone who does know". Like wtf..........no wonder old people don't get taken care of...........I knew where the tape was but they just shot me down and that comment went under my skin and pissed me off. Probably paid to be that kind of bias towards games or maybe they find and hire the ones I come across? -One Empire falls another riseshttp://myanimelist.net/signature/EuroSubstance.png http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/os/type/2/ghostlysubstance.png

Yeah, sometimes old people can get the "I'm older and know everything you don't" sort of thing going. : My grandparents are really cool though. The old ladies I was talking about in my first post were probably of the same mindsets of the people who burned "witches" in salem some-odd years ago. the "witchcraft and hp are evil so I won't let them wwatch it" type http://miniprofile.xfire.com/bg/sf/type/0/captainartenon.pnghttp://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Sith_Lords_EaW/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=5554600Alternate Sitehttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar1.jpghttp://img228.imageshack.us/img228/6296/sweawuban0cg.pngPetition for Obsidian and Bioware to work on Knights of the Old Republic III together! 3926 Total Signatures and counting!SW Fanon Wiki entry - Captain Artenon"A fake news show on fox should have real news!" -Louis Black, The Daily Show.

In the book Lucas Himself said that Grievous was an echo or of what anakin is going to become his purpose aside from being the main action villian is to foreshadow that event by him being a cyborg In the OT just about everything alluded to something but the prequels... not so much
