matt_pff Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Well its finally happened. Empire at War is set to make its way to the Mac sometime in February.
DragonShadow Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Yay...they've wasted money on the 2% niche market...and that's only if every Mac owner buys the game, lol... http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Lord_of_the_Sith Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 True. Making a game to Mac is a waste of money. :-\
DragonShadow Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 True. Making a game to Mac is a waste of money. :-\ Especially now that you can install Windows on a Mac, why would you ever use the Mac OS? lol. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
SirNuke Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 True. Making a game to Mac is a waste of money. :-\ Not necessarily, there isn't exactly a lot of competition in the MacOS gaming field. All we need now is a Linux port Zing!
DragonShadow Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Mac and Linux are like the core gaming market: there's no money in it. Hardcore gamers spend way more per capita, but there aren't enough of them to fuel the industry. It's mass market fringe/casual gamers who really pay out, even though they only buy one or two games a year. Same goes for Mac and Linux. Mac holds 2% of the world's PC market, Linux less than 1% (I think), and 99.9% of the remaining computers are Windows. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Jedi Master Tofu Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 ummm, ds that adds up to 102.99%... Widows dominates the gaming industry because it got a hold in the industry in the 1990's before mac did...thats why macs are in a lot of schools because they are cheap and schools don't have video games "The leading cause of death among fashion models is falling through street grates" - Dave Barry.

You are right about the gaming market, Microsoft made the brilliant move of creating DirectX back in 1995. To this date, Apple really doesn't consider the gaming market the target of their products, and doesn't court game developers. Zing!

Jedi Master Tofu Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Someone never play oregon trail I have played a few games on mac but they aren't as good as windows games. In fact, I have played Oregon Trail...in fact, I LIVE in the city at the end of the Oregon Trail! "The leading cause of death among fashion models is falling through street grates" - Dave Barry.
