Ship HQ

Well what if a big capital ship and only that ship (also being a hero & Eclipsed size or Death Star) could be a portable HQ? What if all your planets are taken over and all you got left is this ship in Galactic Conquest that acts like your space station? Of course keeping unit building and research to a minimum all you have to do is choose your elite units and it would build normally but stay locked in your ship until you tell the landing craft or ships. I know someone else had this idea but i'm just asking is this even possible even a bit of it?

You mean like a mobile planet?

I'm not sure...but I do know that it would have to be coded like a planet that moves.

Now, for a stationary HQ...THAT I know is possible.

 

Let's say you want the ARC Hammer to be a HQ that battles can take place at:

 

1. add a planet to the Galactic Map that uses the ARC Hammer Model

 

2. create a space map

 

3. if you want to create a land map, your best bet would be to make it the interior of the ship/space station

Yes, in MP

No, in GC. You can select it, but the built ships, they can't be found.

 

If you want a MOBILE ship, like Arc Hammer, then you just have to make a special variant of each unit you want buildable, and allow it to be build WITHOUT a space station.

ya 1upD, a mobile spacestation which also acts like your land bases also since they would build troopers and vehicles to land at your take over planet.

 

This should be fun to see if it actually does work but the issue would be then money. Even the Empire would start to act like the Consortrium trying to salvage every bit of wreckage they can and somehow make money? lol ........yes as someone said give it an interior and you can see how it produces money/credits at a rediciously fast rate  ::) It all depends on which ship is this HQ I guess........Even the Deathstar 1 or 2  :-\

Thats what I meant by "You can select it, but the built ships, they can't be found."

 

Just go look at the darktrooper code...but remove all other requirements except for your HQ ship.

And make sure build tab is space or you'll have to cap the planet :S.

Hmm the use of the DT code and the related Arc Hammer is an excellent idea. But does this work in EAW first instance(No FOC)?

Yes it's essential for most things. The most disappointing thing is that the original campaigns are not playable in FOC so no addition on FOC can be used in the original campaigns. :-\

 

Yeah. I was hoping we might be able to play the originals in FoC...oh well...

It was just an idea I had for Galactic Conquest. Are these guys twisting the meaning again? And idea is only an idea in this post  :P

That's not exactly what we(or at least I) want.

 

I was trying to get a barracks(and later capital ship) to build units in a tactical battle during GC.

 

What if you could activate the reinforcement button for the defender? I'm not very good with buttons, but I know there's an XML that can do this.

Not what you're looking for. But read the question.

As far as I'm concerned, Space stations only build units directly in battle for skirmish. We can do that with the ship HQ.

As far as I'm concerned, Space stations allow tactical units to be built in the galactic map. ArcHammer does this.

 

Building in tactical GC would definately be out-of-question in realism. (think: can you build ships in the middle of a battle? no)

You can call in reinforcements (like building in Skirmish GC), but if there ARE no reinforcements (only thing left), then you wouldn't be able to call for any, would you? (skirmish, i belive is a single battle for a single planet, where every faction has another planet).

Id would be nice to have the ability, but I will not look into it.

I belive the XML you're looking for is the COMMANDBARCOMPONETS xml. Good luck with it ;). My guess is its hardcoded.
