MonkeyBiz Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I spent the day adding some new stuff to FoC from some models I picked up last night. Thought I'd share them with you guys. Enjoy, and leave ideas! MajorPayne Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Good going Monkeybiz. A useful selection of ships to add simply because your not trying to add such ships as the eclipse or Executor (I tend to believe these ships are far to large for a standard game). One question. Do those capital ships break up when destroyed (I think its the death clone), or not?? I'm just wondering.
Lord_of_the_Sith Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Are those models completely new (a mean a new conversion from warlords) or an edited version of models from other mods?May I suggest you to take the mod that adds the Warlords Ships and make them a way better in matter of textures I mean.I you need help in code ect I would help yuo adding things.
MonkeyBiz Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Those models are from the Space Addon Mod from empireatwar.filefront.com. The textures were decently done, but I decided to get in there and polish them up a bit. For example, the Interdictor and Tector both had yellow lighting, rather than teal, so I edited the hues and whatnot in photoshop. And yes, all the models have death clones. My goal is to make the game deeper and really give the GC mode an impetus for existing. I mean, right now if you conquer a planet it might yield an inconsequential bonus. The way I've modded it, capturing another planet gives you a lot of leverage and potentially some unique units, depending on your side. Next up, I plan on adding Bilbringi, Yaga Minor, and Sluis Van to get more capital ship building planets in the game. And after that. JEDI AND SITH. Yes, that's right. Jedi Knights and Dark Side Adepts, buildable on Yavin 4 (Jedi) and Korriban. (Sith) I'll be using the Obi-Wan model for the Jedi Knights and the Force Adepts model for the Sith. I'd consider releasing this, but I know that there would be a lot of angry people. So, I'd have to get a lot of permission first. Then again, they say it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.
MonkeyBiz Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Thanks for the encouragement. I'll keep you guys posted on my progress.
Nevets Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I thought the tector was just an ISD with more armor and not fighters, that looks a little different.
MonkeyBiz Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Well it's not like you can just slap on armor plating to an ISD and have it look the same. That's just madness. It's actually a downsized Allegiance model that I used because it lacked a fighter bay. I'll be upsizing the Allegiance later for, well... The Allegiance.
Lord_of_the_Sith Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Can you tell me how to improve the textures??
MonkeyBiz Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 What I'll do is pull up the .dds file in Photoshop and see what needs adjusted. You can adjust colors and hues and lightness and darkness at will, pretty much. Play around with it and see what happens.
Dr. Nick Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I hear there's a Warlords Conversion project being done...maybe you can use those models http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g154/codeuser/sigcopy.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a245/loverdog/pffuserbar2.jpg[3:52:33 PM] Arbiter says: Paracetamoxyfrusebendroneomycin would cure all of his diseases....[3:52:47 PM] Arbiter says: Except with the side effect of probable death.
Lord_of_the_Sith Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Monkey is there a way to increase the resolution of the dds to have better textures? About the WL conversion, yes there is one on oùphase 2 called Space Ships add-on downloable on EAW files. SAU too has all WL models and are finishing an High Def. pack for their mod. You may take that models and apply them to the mods. Is what i will do.
scott2978 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I'm pretty sure the Tector in canon (yes, it was shown in one of the movies!) is identical on the outside except it has no hangar bay. I had to improve a lot of textures for other people's mods too. Seems like everyone wants their ships to be too dark for some reason. Scott
ultimentra Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 No i mean the FoC mod shown in the pics. The current downloadable mod only has the small stuff. I want the tector shown at the top.
scott2978 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 That's not the Tector, it's the Allegiance. You can download it in the Space_add_on mod available at EAWFiles.com. Scott
MonkeyBiz Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 Correction. That is the Allegiance model. However, it's ONLY the Allegiance model. It's been scaled down to be more in line with what it's supposed to be. I did the code myself. If I ever get around to doing my super-capital ships, then I'll add the Allegiance back in, and add more hardpoints. LOL.
ultimentra Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 But it says tector class destroyer in the picture...
Droid803 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Dummy, its SUPPOSED to be the tector class. He's just using the model for the Alliegance for the tector.Units need models. Tector doesn't have a model, he uses the one that's closest, which happens to be the alleigence... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v423/kc1991/droid803sig.jpg"That was fun"
jedi_consulor Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 What I'll do is pull up the .dds file in Photoshop and see what needs adjusted. You can adjust colors and hues and lightness and darkness at will, pretty much. Play around with it and see what happens. I'm having trouble trying that - I have Photoshop CS 9.0 - but every time I edit the texture file - it causes the skin to be messed up. I get black area's over the bridge of the ship etc. the rest of the skin doesn't seem right either. I sent you a PM - maybe you could help me out with the re touched dominator skin you did. Very nice job you did re doing them. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e99/drone_pilot/JC_Sig.jpg Sote Mod Website @ http://sote-mod.com/forum/index.php?act=home
Lord_of_the_Sith Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 True. He has done a great work. Infact the pack contaiing the ships needs only a good retouch to make the skins at high def levels!!
jedi_consulor Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I think has done a spectacular job Oh I figured out what I was doing wrong in Photoshop - I have started re touching the skins from that German Mod. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e99/drone_pilot/JC_Sig.jpg Sote Mod Website @ http://sote-mod.com/forum/index.php?act=home
MonkeyBiz Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 Does anyone know if I have to edit the model to add a bump map if one didn't already exist? Moreover, how does one make a bump map? These would be helpful to know.
