I have got 11 Rebel hero's to my game - and I should have 12 - I just coded in Wedge - Rogue Squadron into the game - and it bumbed off Liea who is also supposed to spawn in orbit with the Tantive IV - the Tantive IV shows but Lieas icon on the hero bar is gone ?!

 

I have been messing bout with it but no joy right now. It got me thinking is there a hero cut off limit you can have to this game ?

You should be able to have as many heroes as you want. Do you have her icon in the command bar and commandbar.mtd?

When your outnumbered, you've got more targets to shoot AND less chance of missing.

You misunderstand. I had Liea working in the mod before I added Wedge Antilles. Yes icons and everything. Now her hero icon doesn't show but Tantiv IV still shows in orbit above Alderaan in the game. Its just that her Hero icon on the top right of the screen has gone.  ???

 

I now have Wedge Antilles Hero icon showing but Liea's is missing. I can't figure out the problem right now - which is why I need to know if there is a limit to how many hero's can be used in the game and shown on the GC Map.

you can have as many as you want, but the maximum that shows up is uh...11

 

Can that be changed?

hmm yes its 11 - it only shows on the top right bar on the Galactic Map screen. However if there are more hero units than 11 I find when you enter them into a battle they appear on the top right screen. I believe its hard to change though to show more than 11. its some thing to do with the GUI.

its in Commandbarcomponents.xml

 

hero_slot_good00

(Hero slot green)

hero_hb_good00

(Hero helathbar green)

hero_slot_evil00

(Hero slot red)

hero_hb_evil00

(Hero healthbar red)

 

there are, you guessed it, 11 entires exactly. from 00 to 10. go figure!

it shouldn't be hard to add like, enough for 30. good luck folks.

hey well done !  :D - I'll have to find time today to test that out :)

 

Just tested it - I still can't get another Hero to show on the screen - I am still missing Liea on the bar. I'll try also adding a new Imperial Hero that takes it beyond the limitation. I added new entries for another place holder for both the Empire and Rebel Hero's - but so far its still only showing the same as before.

 

Maybe I'm missing some thing else besides commandbar components ?

 

If anyone else can try testing this too and let me know how it works that would be useful to help solving this  :)

Ah sorry...forgot one thing...

 

Take a look at i_main_hero_frame_rebel.alo and i_main_hero_frame_empire.alo

And there's your problem. 11 slots, with bones to attach the commandbar components

 

Oh crap, this isn't going to be easy then.

Maybe someone would model one.

This isn't something easy though, some of the big mods might find this useful.

Lol...so we've got to make a model with bones and (probably) no geometry? piece of cake...putting it in the right place and stuff is another matter entirely...

I remember some one saying this - that we would have to do some thing with the GUI or some thing - he did mention it wouldn't be easy work.

I'm pretty convinced now that its just these two factors.

The buttons are pretty generic. You can cut one out of the code and you'll have one less slot for hero heads (but I don't see why you would...)

 

Nothing to do with the GUI. All the head/buttons link to the same reference and uses pretty generic coding (its vague, which is a good thing)
