I've Successfully added in FoC's Droideka MK. II!!

Yes, you read that correctly, and I've decided to go public. I have successfully added in the FoC's Droideka MK. II & have tested and retested to ensure it works. Right now I'm mostly fine-tuning it to ensure cannon realism. Just wanted to let you guys know.

Okay, I've gotten most of the debugging and fine-tuning done. There is one small problem: The developers did not include the animation for it to turn & attack. Therefore, you must line up the Droideka in order for it to attack. I know this is stupid, but there is no way to fix it.

 

The coding will be released on October 18, 2006.

that would work nicely, just use the Imperial Hovertank or T2-B turret animations as a template.

 

I'm trusting we all have the model in FoC demo?

sadly, no.

That demo is huge! with a 56k modem/phone line, that's over 2 weeks of no phone calls! :'( And that's if nothing goes wrong in the download.

Well, we're not allowed to release the models to public, or the converted anims, so you'll have to download the model, and convert the Animations yourself. The coding is as FAR as we can release without petro sueing us.

Not strictly true. If that was the case then there would have been details on restrictions within the games ELUA. Also did it occur to you to contact them directly and ask??

Why not make the Driodeka's body a turret and then add the turret code, that should work.

 

Okay, I tried that with the bones & the animation, but for some reason it just stands there, not firing or anything. I think that one major .ala was left out: The 'Turn-To-Fire' .ala.

 

Okay, I've decided to go with megaupload.com. And now, I present: THE DROIDEKA MK. II!!!!!!!!

I downloaded the files, but there are no .dds (skin) files in the folder.

Are the animations converted in the download to EaW format? or do I need to convert them via Mike's converter?

@ Logan: Everything's been done for you, I used Mike's converter & everything. Just put the files in the right place & your code to go. :)

 

@ JMT: Well, first I had to extract the model & animation files, then convert the animations, then code the unit in (that was the worst part, as it didn't like E@W's way of movement, took quite a few times to get it right), then have D803 get hte right button for it, then after testing I went public. So I did a lot, not just coding.

@Star Wars Man

 

Just got the files imported to my game - and found the unit doesn't fire at anything ? I had to add projectile type information to the ground unit code to get it to fire at anything. Also you have a HP_04 for some thing in the code that doesn't exist in your hardpoints code..?

 

Anyway I sorted out what I needed to and it works in the game now after making some adjustments. I just thought I'd point out the problems I found when I was importing your xml code to my own files. The Model is really cool by the way I am glad you took the time to code this in for EAW ;)
