Games, Jobs, and Colleges....Oh My!

List of questions to ponder:

1.What do you plan on doing with your lives?

2.Will it involve games or gaming(aside from playing them)?

3.Do you plan on going to college or are at college?(which one if you know. If you are there and you don't know....well...I can't really help you. People in the white coats might be of service)

I'll add more questions as I think of them, or as I steal(borrow)them from others.  :P

For those of us who are out of college, tell what you do and what you did to get where you are today.

Protecting the world from those who have an IQ higher than 30! Huzzah!

Trust me...I'm a professional.

I'm the Finance Manager of a BMW dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Let's see I went to college at McPherson College (private) in McPherson, Kansas and got my degree in Social Psychology.  Once I found out that a job using my degree would net me a stellar $25k a year I decided to reconsider my career.  I got into sales instead.  I have been in sales every since doing anything from radio spots to internet service.  I started working in the car business almost 3 years ago and I have loved every minute of it!  I'm now making the kind of money I want and living a great lifestyle.  I could have gone back to school for a Master's and make MAYBE $50k...but why when I am now making $80k?  A couple more years and a couple more promotions in this business and I'll likely be making $120-150k.  Where else can you do that!?

Honestly, the numbers are staggering about how many college grads start out selling cars before they start their "serious job" and actually stay in the car business because they are making so much money they don't want to stop.  They give you a free car (no car payment, no insurance, no tag expenses) to boot!  It's a great gig.  The only downside is the hours you put in (50-70 hours a week)...but the money makes it worthwhile.  If you can't be a doctor or a lawyer...BE A CAR SALESMAN!  ;D

I'm not going into a career that involves video games. The market for being educated in that kinda stuff is packed.... or so I'm told. To get a job where you make games and computers and all that is all the rage now. You have to be the best of the best to get there.

Or so I'm told............................. But I don't see why not, it makes sense to me................

Hello, my name is Mikan, I've been off crack for about a we-....wait.....wrong room

I want to be a physicist.  So, I'm going to Valparaiso University, mainly because A.  They have a good physics program, and the main main reason is B.  It's close to home.  And no, it's not In South America, it's in North West Indiana.

Video games won't pay any part in my career, unless people listen to me and use ideas from said video games and movies to make technology.

I work in AutoCAD doing architectural-ish stuff for an HVAC company (part time, lol). I just started classes at the Art Institute of California - Orange County with a major in Game Art & Design...so I'll spend the rest of my working life doing...well, this. ;D

I'm taking computer science at the University of Michigan.  I'm not sure what specific industry I'll go into (in the long run), but I am still considering the video games industry.  It's depends heavily on whether I can get a video game industry internship.

As for the rest of my life, I'm not too picky as long as I enjoy my job, earn at least 50k a year, and I'm not in the Midwest.  To tell you the truth, I would rather being doing something I enjoy over something that pays really well.  I suppose I am fortunate that I enjoy programming, and it pays well :)

Zing!
