Wouldn't

<Demo_Attract_Maps> bench_land.rec Front_end_demo_attract.rec</Demo_Attract_Maps>

work better?

 

Also, unless there is a way to save transparency to .DDS, it is impossible to remove the helmets, exept in the .ALO viewer. Wait...............

 

Do you have photoshop? Which version? You wouldn't happen to have the .DDS plugin, would you? :)

 

Simple. Its just like reskinning. Copy your Front_end_demo_attract.ted and paste it inside the maps folder. Rename it to Front_end_demo_attrac2. Now go to your Gamedata folder and go to Recordings folder and copy Front_end_demo_attract.rec, Rename it to Front_end_demo_attract2. Now open up Front_end_demo_attract2.rec with the hex editor. Type "rec" in find and rename the Front_end_demo_attract.ted. Rename it to Front_end_demo_attrac2. just replace the T at the end of attract with a 2. Now after this open up your Gameconstants. Scroll down to  this and replace it with this.

Sorry about replying to an old topic, but how does this work for FOC? I'd like to change the FOC splash screen, or at least add the EAW screens to it so it's not always the same old rebels vs ZC.

 

I don't see any recordings in my FOC folder?

haha don;t use recordings, just make a folder in data called art/maps

 

and place i think its DEMO_ATTRACT_KAMINO.ted (make it with the map editor)

That's not really saying much. If I add art/maps, I can't simply add the .rec files from EAW, add them to the XML, and have FOC use them as the splash screen?

 

What I want is screens other than demo_attract_kamino. And I have no idea how to make them with the map editor.

 

edit: Stupid question, but what is front_end_demo_attract.ted? I set that as the demo map in the XML, and now it shows empire vs ZC instead of rebels, but it uses different cinematic angles every time I load the game. It's the same battle but using different viewing angles each time.

 

So I'm closer to what I want, but not quite there yet. I want it to randomly choose which recording or .ted it shows (like I swore EAW did but I guess it was only showing the same battle but with different viewing angles). ATM I'm using demo_attract_geonosis.ted and it's fine. But if there's a way for it to randomly choose one...

 

What allows the splash screen to use different cinematic angles? The original FOC screen was always the same angles.

Well when I referred to the 'Splash Screen' in one of my previous topic's I called it such because that is what it's called in the DDS files ? SPLASH.DDS - is the loading screen picture of the game. It's easy to assume that the word splash and 'splash screen' would then be associated ?

Well I'm using the term "splash screen" here as the OP used it: the cinematic battle playing in the background of the main menu. It's not a "picture" so yeah the term isn't accurate. But for this thread it may as well be :)

You're missing the point.

 

Make a NEW map (with whatever you want) and rename it Demo_attract_Kamino.

 

I've tried using the other recs and Sychronization error  on EaW :S, but you should try on FoC since there's that new replay system :P

Why rename it to demo_attract_kamino? Can't I name it something unique? Like demo_attract_mrsparkle? (just for example).

 

All I'd have to do is change the XML file's line to that map's name right? Currently I'm using demo_attract_geonosis.ted because it's a 3 way battle between rebs, imps and ZC. Unfortunately, since the cinematic camera loves to linger on destroyed capital ships, it winds up just being camera views of blown-up mon calamari after mon calamari.

well I do that so that I can upscale my FPS online :P

With the originaly map I get what 8 fps and get booted form every single game. I put an empty space and voila! I'm now pusing 100 FPS and ppl are like "ur comp is 1337".

 

Changing anything in any XML dissallows me from online play (version mismatch).

Hmm, the splash screen map has something to do with FPS? So if I turn off the splash screen battle entirely I'd get fantastic FPS? That shouldn't be, but I'll take your word for it.

Yes in fact, thats how the game reads your FPS - based on your speed running the shell map, it creates the FPS it displays to other people, your computer doesn;t get faster, but other poeple think it is >: )
