Just spotted this game on gamespot (just got posted today).  It's a Alternate Cold War scenario (aka it didn't end).  Looks like a pretty awesome game.

Nice - I like those ground control 2 graphics older than EAw but a lot more better looking (models including).

This looks like a nice new little setting for games and now watch everybody follow the leader.

 

Hope they add a small Canada faction to re-research and rebuild the Avro Arrow and customize it a bit as a rebirth. Its real and wouldn't be fiction so it can still be added if its a continuation of the cold war. Even if Canada's economy is bad for its military bet we can fix that in the game somehow. Common Canada and its Avro Arrow needs to get added damn it. I'm tired of these American publishers annoying great small (and one big country) and take away the glory they earned, but i'll stop my rant here since thats another topic.

 

Heard there will be a RTS with a FPS mode in there. Is this true or is commando pulling my leg? If its FPS i'll go ahead and fly the Hind and just have fun sandboxing.

I doubt it for several reasons.

 

1) 16 person drop in multiplayer vs 8 traditional mp in CoH

2) You pick your "class" at the beginning and can change it in the middle of the match vs pick a "class" early in the game and can't change it.

 

Other than that they do bear several similarities I guess.  However most RTS games do have a lot in common.  I guess it depends on your POV.

There is a game Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War that has a FPS mode but the game is really buggy because it went through 2 developers...I own it so I know... :-\

There is a demo out on various sites if you wanted to download and try it (1.2 gigs though).  Overall a very enjoyable rtt game (real time tactical).  A bit different from your average rts.

downloaded the demo, after three crashs when trying the campaign level. i finally completed it, have play a couple of skirmish games as well. its good, very good.
