VileMrrrgh Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 (edited) ok, in the data file I see the text entries with the ships names in it. just wondering how to name a ship, what line of code tell it to read the text entries.??? example I made a rebel star destroyer, all my dat files work fine, the ship just has no name.....any ideas? DragonShadow Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 In GAMECONSTANTS.xml, there's an entry called . Under that, just add a line for the unit (i.e. Rebel_Star_Destroyer or whatever you named the unit) like this: Rebel_Star_Destroyer, Data\Rebel_Star_Destroyer.txt (or you can reference one of the files already listed). Just make sure you put the entry above http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg

DragonShadow Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Your welcome. I was fiddling around in gameconstants earlier today and found this (again, I kinda forgot about it). http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
meishme Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Just an idea... you think it's possible to do the same for squadrons? I mean, it'd be great if you could give specific names to x-wing squadrons or such, e.g. Green Squadron, Gold Squadron, etc. ;D
JediKnightNathan Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 could this be done for fighter and other ship that dont have name files.so we could finaly have Green squdron and Gray and GOLD squdron (the y-wings from the battle of Yavin)
VileMrrrgh Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 not that I really know what I am talking about but I would figure that if you wanted a Gray, Green, etc for your fighter that it would probably be for all the fighter.....maybe though you could "copy" Red squadrons code making the necessary changes to make it an a-wing, or y-wing...and then just make the necessary entries into the DAT files. Dragonshadow, thanks for the gameconstants info.
DragonShadow Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Yes, it can be done. Just put the name of the unit Rebel_X-Wing_Squadron, Data\Xwing.txt in the category. Then put a new text file (Xwing.txt) in the Data folder, and put a list of names in their (Gold Squadron, Green Squadron, etc.), and the names should appear in-game when you select your fighters. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
Vanguard Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Yeah but that doesn't work, I did that, and I just get the loads of squares and stuff appearing where the squadron name should be.

Maybe we need to add stuff to the DAT file...don't know, I'll check later. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/RyuuKageSIG.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h65/NightshadowDragon/AoSW-JCW_Banner.jpg
