Petition for ALL the content

Recommended Posts

I refuse to sign that.  You must understand that as a game is developed, it changes.  Making a game, or any program for that matter, isn't just throwing as many features in as you can.  Ideas might get worked on and get nearly completely implemented, only for some reason to appear that it isn't such a great idea.  I have yet to see any reason that Petro/LucasArts is hiding anything huge that needs to be in the game.  This isn't Rebellion 2, and throwing Diplomacy in isn't going to magically fix anything.  Neither will throwing 20+ units into the game.

Now, I am disappointed in the game.  For me, online matches rarely get past the connecting window, and rarely end without a sync error.  There are many bugs, and I think it's rather obvious the 3 month delay for 'polish' was rewriting parts of the game.  The game play suffers from many somewhat minor flaws (such as how small the maps are, which doesn't allow for many different attacks.  Also how assault forces always need roughly the same combination of units to win.  And the lack of different ways to take a planet).  I personally wish I had saved my money and bought Galactic Civilizations II.

If this petition gets accepted (which it won't), all you will end up with a bunch of half finished models and half implemented ideas (an xml key doesn't not mean it was ever used, just that they considered something).  For most, there will be a very good reason why they weren't included or completely implemented.

Delphi has [presumably] been paying attention to our bi- complaining (and I thank him for doing so).  A 'good' petition would be requesting the dedication of Petroglyph that patches will be released that tweak the game enough to allow for more varied game play (or whatever specific problem you have with the game).

Zing!

I would rather have a petition that would gives us the mod tools with the ability to add diplomacy. That way we can do it the way we want and not have to worry about LA making them do a half a** job.

As EaW's mod support is pitiful at best, I agree with that comment.

Give people a decent SDK, or this game will fall even deeper into the realm of forgotten games. Because quite frankly, with its current gameplay depth, it gets old real fast. I don't even remember the last time I booted EaW up. Hell, I never even finished both single player campaigns.

I support this.  HOWEVER, That does not mean I want to beg Lucasarts for content.  Heck, I know they won't listen.  They're one of the most influential game developers ever, so they really don't have to.  All we're really waiting for are the mod tools, an once we get those, we could probably put it back in.

While most of you have played it, and loved it, I, unfortunetly, have never played Rebellion.  It was one of those games I never saw; heck, I didn't even hear of it until I came here.  But it looked like a great game.  I want diplomacy in, not to make this game like another game I don't know about, but to add a realistic sense to the gameplay.  I mean, what weak association wanting peace blockades a planet and rains death from above?  Not the Rebel Alliance, that's for sure, but they sure do in this game.

I just think it would be good to be able to convince planets to join you peacefully rather than using pure military force.  That's why I want diplomacy in the game.  'Tis also a reason I want some of the other features.

SirNuke, very clearly you aren't paying attention. The 20+ models cut from the game were complete working models, including textures.

And yes, we do require the mod tools. I've never played Rebellion, and I don't care about Rebellion. This game is not Rebellion. So if Rebellion is what you want, get off these forums, sell your copy of EaW, and go play your damn Rebellion isntead of complaining about it here.

Get a damn life.

Stop the flaming or this is getting locked.

As for me personally, I say dont fix it if it isnt brocken. The game works well with what it has right now. Im the kind of person that would rather buy added features and units in an official expansion and is willing to pay a reasonable price for it. But heck, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

they already said mod kit is coming soon so im not worried about that

about content... I dont see what the deal is with them cutting things out.. Most games have many more features planned than u see in retail versions..

while i would have liked to see more.. its not as bad as other games.. Normaly i play mods more than i play their vanilla versions so  im not worried about content at all. i mean i nearly only bought this game for the enigne to mod.. .. the content.. while i love it.. is only half the reason i bought this game

bugs.. i guesss understandable when using gamespy for multiplayer.. besides that i havnt seen many bugs besides that.  ive seen worse..

I mean its not like they said they were gonna have diplomacy in the few months before the game was in retail.. the box didnt say "with diplomacy!!!"    If you are worried about companies taking content off for an expansion u guys better head on to EA's forums and petition BF2 not to have all the new content on "boster packs" .. content that would have been in patches .. but instead they focus on making new stuff to sell instead of workin on fixing the game :/

Eh, you truly need to play the game to understand what the issue is about. Most who have played Rebellion will agree that it was the best star wars strategy game to play if you really wanted to have that feel of playing in the Star Wars universe. The game was far from perfect tho, the space battles were horrible (most people I know don't even play the space battles and autoresolve), too much mircomanagement, and just lack of eye candy. When most people heard about EAW it truly looked like Rebellion 2, it looked like it had corrected all the issues that troubled rebellion and was the game all Star Wars gamers have been waiting for. Problem was while the space battles were vastly improved and the eye candy is there, instead of putting mircomanagement in moderation they took it almost out completely (so we went from two extremes, too much to too little, we need to find the balance point). Also EAW took out a lot of the gameplay that made Rebellion a great Star wars strategy game. That is why people here always bring up Rebellion, we feel we are soooo close to having that perfect star wars strategy game we can almost taste it.

I still say that Rebellions gameplay with EAWs graphics and eye candy would make the best star wars game and one of the best strategy games ever.

I really can't see why you are complaining and start petitions, which eventually wouldn't be taken into account anyway, that's pure waste of time.

But then, what I really don't understand is why the heck you are whining and begging for mod tools while you could well be on your way to modding the hell out of this game, and thus making it alot better.

I'm have done this, and i'm still at it, I develop a mod with a friend, that easily will give EAW the gameplay depth it deserves and even without adding a single model, map or whatsoever.

The gameplay in the Galactic Campaign is horrible: true. But as for skirmish it's one of the most fun games i ever played (and I certainly played alot of games).

The possibilities which lie in this game are nearly endless, and it's not even difficult, im by no means a talented modder, all i do is some copying and pasting it somewhere else. And yet only by those small means I've reworked the ship-building system, changed the experience of playing Rebels in Land battles and am well on my way to change the whole Gameplay experience into what I think it should be.

So instead of wasting your time with petitions, get of your armchair and mod the Game.

What's the difference between and 'official expansion' and a patch? They both come from the same source.

Well not much, but I have never heard of a patch that adds a ton of more features to a game. With the exception of MMORPG games such as galaxies. Also a major difference is expansions are usually treated as seperate games. Such as Yuri's Revenge, you could play that and still play Red Alert 2 seperately. If they made a patch, the version of EaW that is out now gets scratched and is replaced, because patches modify. Whilst Expansions, expand.

While I do agree with you guys, that the game would be a whole lot more fun with all the features I dont think a petition will get you anywhere. So basically you pick your battles and this one, I believe, isn't worth it. But you have to right to petition (hopefully) so more power to you!  ;D

Next time (*those who didn't posted here http://pff.swrebellion.com/index.php?topic=2658.50 ) try to be on time. One of the main problems of the petitions is a total lack of synchronization with the dev deadlines and time management. Second ... they don't give nothing diverse in return (feedback) and they don't use their full potential as a community action.

A petition seems to be a hardcore fan thing (the marketing guys tend to try to please mainly casual buyer and they don't listen to the hardcore fans) while a feedback session is more medium and neutral balanceing the hardcore fan feedback with the low medium one (casual buyer).

substance i want to modify ur statement, you should up to pop cap by at least 20 for 1v1 skirmish, if you up it for the custom maps, such as a 4v4 game, it will get an even more unreasonable amount of lag that people will have to deal with. now, if everyone who played the game had good comps/connections/internet then yeah, up everything by 20 pop cap pts.(different subject, why is the rebellions current pop cap 5 pts higher than emps?)

what are you people complaining about? there are hidden models? ok well when the editing tools come out perhaps you can acces them, if not well to bad? what you can do is just recreate they from scratch (i cant do that) but there are people to much who can.

i have said

besides anybody who keeps nagging about this will get to meet sting... who is sting you will ask? its my real authentic working lightsaber! so there

Kingdark, There are a TON of stuff the dev's left out.  Just look at my hidden units list.

I'm really not caring about this anymore (until I see a Ssi-Ruu.  I like Ssi-Ruuk....)

There are four "hidden" models as you call them: Prince Xizor, the Shadowclaw, the Virago, and the Moldy Crow. There are 20+ other units that Petroglyph removed from the game. Other things are left over too, like a jedi padawan skin, and remnants of a diplomacy system as well as Force influence on planets. These resources can't be accessed because no outside Petroglyph has them.
