What do you mean by "depth"? It has a good replay value, and good multiplayer....

 

More than going to planet X, to conquer Planet Y, build up same force that you used to conquer planet Y, but now attack Planet Z.....and then rinse and repeat till you conquer them all. That is pretty much it, it is fairly linear, doesn't go much into anything besides that.

 

No diplomacy, no hero missions, no permanent hero death, so who cares if I use darth vader for every single battle, if he dies I lose him for a couple turns (big deal), no real reasearch, the game experience is the same no matter how many times you play it (natives are on the same side everytime, planets have the same amount of spaces, bases are always in the same place).....

 

Don't get me wrong, I am still playing the game and still having fun, but the game is far from a classic. It had the potential, but they went with making things simple instead of making a complex game with a lot of replay value.

 

I am still holding out hope that some of the mods can pull off the game I, and many others, envisioned when we first heard about EAW.

I see your point. Don't get me wrong, I was disappointed with somethings. The game does need to be more complex. But I am glad it is still fun though, and that is good enough for me right now. The mods will hopefully add more complexity and perfect a good game.
